Sunny (Sunset Lemonade)

Role: Grand Sentinel

Personality: Sunny is known for his unwavering dedication and protective nature. He possesses a calm and patient demeanor, yet he can be fierce and unyielding when defending his pride. Though once despondent and lost, Sunny now exudes confidence and purpose, his past hardships having forged a resilient and compassionate leader. He is deeply loyal to his pride and takes his role as Grand Sentinel seriously, always putting the safety and well-being of others first.

Backstory: Sunny's journey began in a dark period of his life, marked by isolation and despair. He was found by a small brown hare with lion-like eyes, who revealed to him a vision of his true destiny. Through this mystical encounter, Sunny learned of his potential to become a Grand Sentinel, protecting the apothecaries and guiding future guardians. Embracing this vision, he left behind his old life and joined the coven, where he found a new purpose and a family that accepted him despite his lack of magical abilities.

Role and Responsibilities: As Grand Sentinel, Sunny is responsible for the safety of the coven. He is entrusted with leading and training other Sentinels, ensuring they are prepared to protect the pride and its apothecaries. Sunny's role extends beyond mere protection; he also serves as a mentor and guide, imparting wisdom and strength to those under his care. His strategic mind and battle prowess make him a formidable guardian, and his gentle nature endears him to those he protects.

Relationships: Sunny has formed deep bonds within the coven, particularly with his apprentices, Lovely and Saga. He chose them not for their physical prowess, but for their pure hearts and unwavering loyalty. Sunny sees potential in both and is dedicated to nurturing their growth as Sentinels. His relationship with the apothecaries is one of mutual respect and reliance, as he often accompanies them on dangerous herb-gathering missions. He also has a deep connection with his younger sister, Vanilla and his mother-figure Hare.

Detailed Backstory

A small brown hare, with eyes reminiscent of lions', swiftly darted through Malice's domain, deftly evading the looming paws of the big cats. It ventured into the section of the pride secluded from the others, those reserved for Malice's eventual judgment.

Perched on its hind legs, the hare's tiny nose twitched as it surveyed the forlorn cubs, yet its focus shifted to a particularly despondent sub male nestled in a corner. Ignoring the cubs, the hare bounded over, emitting soft squeaks in an attempt to capture his attention. But the male merely huffed and turned away. Irritated, the hare leaped onto his head, sifting through his mane until it found his ear. Drawing close, it whispered,

"ᚤᛟᚢᚱ ᛞᛖᛋᛏᛁᚾᚤ ᚱᛖᛗᚨᛁᚾᛋ ᚢᚾᛋᛖᚨᛚᛖᛞ. ᚠᛟᛚᛚᛟᚹ ᛗᛖ ᛏᛟ ᚹᚺᛖᚱᛖ ᚤᛟᚢᚱ ᛈᚢᚱᛈᛟᛋᛖ ᚨᚹᚨᛁᛏᛋ. ᚤᛟᚢ, ᛗᚤ ᛋᛟᚾ, ᚨᚱᛖ ᛞᛖᛋᛏᛁᚾᛖᛞ ᚠᛟᚱ ᚷᚱᚨᚾᛞᛖᚱ ᛈᚢᚱᛋᚢᛁᛏᛋ."

(Translation)

Your destiny remains unsealed. Follow me to where your purpose awaits. You, my son, are destined for grander pursuits.

The hare gently pressed its paw against the sub male's forehead, and suddenly, both of their eyes gleamed with a brilliant white light as a vision unfolded before him. He saw himself transformed—Catapult renamed to Sunset Lemonade, fulfilling a vital role as a guardian, entrusted with protecting the apothecaries and eventually becoming the mentor to all guardians. Surrounded by love, he would be called upon to aid the apothecaries and safeguard them on their ventures beyond the pride's borders.

In his vision, he witnessed the sacred ceremony where the pride's sigil was emblazoned upon his shoulder, marking him as one of them. He envisioned falling deeply in love and raising cubs with a pride female, her image blurred yet promising happiness. His fur would gleam with health, thanks to the remedies from the apothecaries, and both his physical and mental wounds would begin to mend.

But then, the vision shifted, revealing a darkness lurking within him. The threat of Demise, it was a malevolent force, born from his time within the pride. A demonic presence threatened to consume him, plunging him into madness. He would find himself fleeing, pursued by his own inner darkness, the passage of days becoming years, and years melting into a lifetime. Eventually, there would be nothing left to salvage, nothing of him remaining.

That grim fate awaited him if he failed to seek the aid of the apothecaries, if he chose to remain within the pride.

The visions faded, and the hare hopped down in front of his face, its dark eyes locking onto his. It waited for his decision, both of them acutely aware that time was running out.

The sub male, with determination now shining in his eyes, gave a resolute nod. The hare's eyes glimmered with approval as it swiftly turned and led the way. He quietly rose to his paws, glancing back one last time before following the hare into the night.

They moved silently through the pride’s territory, careful not to attract any attention. The cold air grew sharper as they ventured farther, the landscape gradually transforming into a snowy forest. The moonlight glistened on the frost-covered branches, creating an ethereal glow.

Once they were deep within the snowy woods, the hare stopped and turned to face him. Before his eyes, the small creature began to change, growing larger and more powerful. Its fur darkened and thickened until, standing before him, was a regal brown lioness. Her eyes, still holding that familiar, penetrating gaze, met his with a knowing look.

"Welcome to your new beginning," she said softly. "Follow me, and we will find the rest of the apothecaries. Your destiny awaits."

---

The journey of being here has been the best moments of my life. I was the first male to join this Coven. They gave me the amazing honor of being Grand Sentinel. I protect everyone. They let me choose two beautiful apprentices and in stead of looking for scary big lions, I chose lions I thought would never turn corrupted.

Lovely and Saga

Lovely is well lovely. Hes about the sweetest lion I've ever met. A little too trusting but he'll make it. Hes very loyal and overprotective of Saga which makes him a great sentinel. I know he'll do the best he can.

Saga- ah Saga. Hes definitely a mess. Hes very soft and gentle but he has a very playful side that I dont see him outgrowing. Reminds me of myself! We get along great. Hes very flirty and sometimes that gets him into trouble but hes responsible and owns up to his mistakes. He'll be great beside Lovely.

They even helped me find my sister, Vanilla, and bring her here.

I've been here for a year now, helping the apothecaries and all the witches, teaching my apprentices all I know. Most lions are scared of this coven and I see why. They're fierce and overprotective. But I also see the better side of them. A side not a lot are lucky to see. They accepted me as one of their own even though I didnt possess the magic they did,

From joining the pride to where I stand now, at the edge of my home, I feel at peace. I know I found my place.
---

Lovely has been asking me why im not a king of my own pride. And to be frank I cant answer that question. It never really occurred to me before. And honestly that question is keeping me up at night. Why dont I? But I felt guilty for thinking that. I was happy here. They gave me love and support when my life was going downhill, and now I have repaid that.

I often find myself doing nothing now. Laying around, waiting for a command or searching to help them with their magic-y stuff. A new feeling has started in my chest, suffocating my thoughts and tugging on my heart. One question burns into my head and wont go away, "What else is out there?" I tried ignoring it. I tried so hard, pushing it away each time.

My dreams are filled with me becoming a king and starting my own family. Of having cubs and a mate. I wake up feeling the guilt again. Trying my best to distract myself.
---

I laid awake, staring up at the sky. Why were you doing this to me? I was content and happy.

I felt Hare lay beside me and I jumped slightly, so much for being a sentient I couldnt sense her at all.

"Remember when I first found you?"

I looked up at her, remembering the night. I silently nodded, watching her,

"You saved me and said I had a purpose here."

Hare smiles faintly, "Yes and you have done an amazing job, my son. But I've been watching you and I know you are troubled." She leans over, laying her head onto mine, purring quietly, "I'm sorry it took me so long to realize. You're purpose is not just here. You are young, strong, and brave. Ready for your own pride."

MY eyes widened, its like she read my mind, "But-"

Hare gently licks my man, "You have fulfilled your purpose here and we will always be there for you. But now someone else needs you."

I looked at Hare, the odd lioness who had saved my life so long ago. So much has changed since then. I've grown stronger, more capable. Hare has grown weaker and more frail but her spirit still roars with power. I was so small and scared. I had given up hope.

She gave me my hope back. Gave me a family. Was it really time to move on?

All around me the foliage started to move, I jumped up, ready to defend Hare. The full moon's bright rays shined down as my pride, my family, stepped out.

Vanilla smiled sweetly at me, Lovely and Saga by her side. I looked around confused, Yvette, Edward, Kaavita, and everyone else. Even Oda and Nimbus were here.

I looked back at Hare, "Whats going on?"

Vanilla stepped over to me, her head rubbing against my chin, "We came to say its time you get your lazy ass up and go get a pride! I wanna be an aunt." Vanilla smiled big at me and I couldnt help but chuckle.

The pride circled me, purring and grooming my fur. It was their goodbye. I couldnt help but start to cry. Vanilla was quick to notice and she layed her forehead onto mine, "Don't cry big brother. We'll come to visit you. I'll be there helping you with your cubs too!"

I nodded, "You better be. I'd be lost without you. . . Without all of you.." I turned and looked at them.

Oda, the quietest of the apothecaries nodded her head, "And we will be lost without you. But im sure you're apprentices will be ready to fill in for you. It will take a team to replace you but im sure we'll manage. You are strong. If you can survive us apothecaries and the herb searching we did- then you'll survive out there."

I smiled faintly, "thank you. For everything."

I turned, looking at my home. I felt satisfied. I began to walk, the snow crunching under my paws as I finally let those thoughts appear in my head without driving them off. It was time. To make my own mark. So with one last glace towards my family, I disappeared into the night.

My story has only just begun.
