Traveling along the border, a large primal fang male followed by a tiny cub trots along. The large male stops after a bit to lay down so the little piebald could climb onto his back. The tiny cub walks over and climbs up onto his back making sure she was succure on his back before playfully batting his shoulder with her front left paw. The large male gets to his paws carefully before continuing to trot along the borders of his small slowly forming territory.

After a while they come across a large oasis just outside his territory. He scents the air for other lions and when he doesn't, he walks over to the oasis, settling down underneath a shady spot. The tiny cub slides off of his back and excitedly runs around the large male. The large male purrs in amusement, "Askira, be careful around the water. There may be a threat laying in wait just under the surface."
The tiny cub, now known as Askira, turns to look at him, "I know Azula! You have told me this before!" She says as she runs over to him and playfully pounces on his tail, choosing to stay near him over exploring.
Azula stiffens when he scents a lion approaching, "Askira hide. There is someone coming." Askira looks at him and quickly runs over to a large bush, hiding underneath it, making sure that she was as covered as she could be.

The lone figure of a lioness, silhouetted against the shimmering heat haze, appears on the horizon. Slowly, the lioness approaches, her ears pressed flat against her skull and her posture submissive. "I bring you no harm," the lioness says, gazing at Azula with gentle, rose-colored eyes. "My name is Thandiwe. I have traveled all day and am seeking a place to rest for the night. I can tell this is your territory." She looks past Azula at the bush. "I see you have a little cub with you. I understand if you do not want strangers in your territory. I will travel on if that is the case." However, it is clear the lioness can't walk much longer. Her sides are slick with sweat and she breathes heavily from exhaustion.

"Of course you can stay. I was just worried that it may have been a hostile male but you are clearly in no condition to continue on. Take a while to rest and regain your strength. I am Azula and the little cub is Askira. Speaking of which, Askira! You can come out little one.", he says staying relaxed and hoping that he wasn't coming off as hostile. He didn't want to scare away a potential pridemate.

Askira scrambles out of the bush and scampers up to Thandiwe, "Hi! You are very pretty!" She then turns to Azula. "Can she stay with us back at our cave? Can she?! Can she?!! Can she?!!!", she exclaims, hoping the pretty lioness was gonna be one of her pridemates.

Azula chuckles, "Only if she is alright with it." He flicks his tail in a relaxed maner. He then moves so that he was sitting on his haunches, his tail carefully wrapped around his front paws.

Thandiwe visibly relaxes. Her legs shake and she almost collapses, but manages to steady herself. "Thank you so much, Azula! And you, little one, thank you too. I would love to come back with you to your cave. I'm afraid, however, to be a burden but I haven't eaten or drank all day. I tried hunting earlier but was unsuccessful due to my exhaustion. I was going crazy out there from the hunger..." She trails off and sighs heavily. "I am sorry to complain. I suppose I'm not used to being hungry. But that's a story for another day and certainly not one to tell in front of the little one." She smiles apologetically at Askira.

Azula nods, "As long as you are with me, you will be fully fed. I can smell a hog nearby. I will go and catch it for you. You stay and rest. Askira you will stay with her. Keep her company and do what she says please." He gets fully to his paws and turns and walks away.

Askira watches him leave before turning back to Thandiwe. Her tail flicks excitedly, "Come lay in the shade! It's much cooler. I saw you almost collapse. Do you have any wounds?" She asks as she turns to start walking towards the shade of the tree.

Thandiwe follows Askira and lays down in the shade. Stretching out, she sighs with relief. "I'm not sure if I have any wounds." She glances over herself and discovers a deep scratch on her left hind leg. It's fresh and stings slightly. "Oh, I do have a scratch. It will be alright," she says dismissively. "Tell me, Askira, what is a little cub like you doing with a big male lion like Azula? I have never seen such a thing before. In my old pride, the male lion always ignored the cubs-or worse." But she doesn't say what could be worse, thinking that it's best to keep such brutal facts (male lions sometimes eat cubs that aren't theirs) from the young cub.

Askira smiles, "Azula took me in when my mother was being forced to abandon me. So he rescued me in a sense." She scampers over to a bunch of seemingly random plants and carefully picks one of the plants before trotting back over to her before turning and looking around for some cobweb. Finding a huge wad of cobweb, she grabs a nearby stick and uses it to get all of the cobweb. She walks back over to Thandiwe and carefully lays the cobweb covered stick on the ground. "I am not too sure what to do now. Azula never taught me what to do next.", she says.
