"Long before Mufasa's rule, reigned another. He went by Ahadi. And his tale, is one of great wonders. Would you care to be apart of it?"

King Mohatu is dead. Murdered and left for dead. But by who? No one seems to know. Every animal questioned, prey and predator alike, is eerily silent. Questioned and with great hesitance, they reveal they know nothing. Until one day, a very frightened looking gazelle asks to speak with the Pridelands' new ruler. She is Mohatu's sister, forced to the throne by her brother's early demise and as her nephew, Ahadi, is too young to take the throne now, serves as regent. Temporarily ruler until he becomes of age.

With great interest, she lets the gazelle into her den and just like so, he starts to spout out the truth. It was the dead of night, no grasshopper had dared let out a singular chirp. At the watering hole, he had beckoned to sip a drink and out came Mohatu. There was a wrinkle to his brow, something was troubling him but at the sight of him, it quickly went away. The gazelle initially believed he had made it up himself. The two shared a polite exchange before the gazelle told the great king he was going to leave. Turning around, he took a path away until he wondered, why would the king be out alone in the dead of night? Deciding to turn around, that's when he caught eye of it.

A beast the size of no other, with razor sharp claws. Too dark was it to identify the suspect but the gazelle reported that it was most similar to a feline. Mohatu and the beast talked, for a moment or two, and everything looked fine. Until the great king started to raise his voice and the beast let out a roar alike nothing the gazelle had heard before. And suddenly, the beast leaped at the king. Mohatu was pinned and while he tried to fight back, his old age had slowed him down significantly and he was killed.

Mohatu's sister was shocked by the revelation and grew furious. Why had no one said anything before? Especially the gazelle? She declared that the gazelle would be charged with treasonous acts, after all, he knew if he spoke the truth? The gazelle, though distraught, understood his punishment and left the den. Mohatu's sister claimed that she would order her guards to fetch him in the morning.

Only to wake up to find the gazelle's throat had been slashed open. Now, all of the Pridelands' subject refused to make eyes with the Pridelanders and avoided them at all costs. Accusatory words started to be hurled towards the Outlanders. Now, the two prides are on the brink of war.

But Prince Ahadi is desperate to find his father's murderer, despite his young age.

RANKS

Monarch(1/1) The leader of the Pridelands, called "King" or in special circumstances, "Queen". Usually only a male role but due to Mohatu's murder and Ahadi's unavailability to rule, the pridelands' new temporarily ruler is female. There can be only one. The monarch creates rules and laws of their pride and is expected to rule with an iron fist. Whatever they say goes.

Consort(0/3) The monarch's mate(s), called "King" or "Queen". While they may be the monarch's mate(s), they hold no power in the Pridelands. If there is no heir or the heir is too young to rule, they take over after their mate passes away. There can be up to three consorts. This rank must be developed through roleplay and with development and proof of development will have to be shown.

Heir (1/1) The next in line to the throne, called "Prince" or "Princess". Typically a male role but if the current monarch lacks in providing a male heir, a female heir would suffice. The heir does not hold any significant power until adulthood and cannot create any laws or rules until their rule. Though it is preferred for them to be related to the monarch, they can be adopted as long as the Pridelander culture and traditions are taught to them. They are chosen by the monarch specifically from offspring and birth order doesn't contribute to their decision. Heirs are expected to take lessons from all of the council members. There can only be one.

Prince/Princesses (0/3) The other offspring of the monarch, called "Prince" or "Princess". If anything is to happen to the heir, the prince and princess are to take over. Just like the heir, they are given lessons on how to rule, taught the Pridelander culture and traditions, and etc. They have no real power, similar to the Consort. Prince/princesses are expected to take lessons from all council members. There can be up to three prince/princesses. This rank is unavailable as of now as Mohatu had no other offspring.

Advisor(0/1) The second in command, though with no real power. They can be male or female, and handle trivial matters within the Pridelands. They work with the Monarch and assists them when it comes to making important decisions. Though they cannot themselves create any rules or laws. They are the voice of the Pridelanders and attempt to fix and report any civil matters to the monarch. Typically related to the monarch but not necessarily required to be. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Lead Diplomat(0/1) The lead diplomat of the Pridelanders, called "Ambassador". They are required to have a broad knowledge of the Pridelands' culture/traditions, the surrounding prides, and the Circle of Life. They handle matters outside of the pride, regarding other factions (the Outlands as of now), prey, etc. They specialize in the art of diplomacy. They are in charge of the other diplomats in the pride and expected to train the other diplomats. They can be male or female. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Lead Healer(0/1) The lead healer of the Pridelanders, called "Medic". They are required to have a broad knowledge of plants, anatomy, and poisons. They are expected to train the other healers and perform the more heavier acts, such as surgery, etc. They specialize in the art of healing. They are in charge of the other healers in the pride. They can be male or female. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Lead Warrior(0/1) The lead warrior of the Pridelanders, called "General". They are required to have a broad knowledge of strategy, tactics, and attack. They are expected to team up with the Lead Guard at all times and train trainees together or go over battle plans together. They specialize in the art of attack and are expected to attack for the pride. They are in charge of the other warriors in the pride. They can be male or female. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Lead Guard(0/1) The lead guard of the Pridelanders, called "Captain". They are required to have a broad knowledge of strategy, tactics, and defense. They are expected to team up with the Lead Warrior at all times and train trainees together or go over battle plans together. They specialize in the art of defense and are expected to defend the pride. They are in charge of the other guards in the pride. They can be male or female and they typically protect the monarch unless told otherwise. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Lead Scout(1/1) The lead scout of the Pridelanders, called "Ranger". They are required to have a broad knowledge of the Pridelands' territory alongside the stars (directions), their borders and other pride's territories. They specialize in the art of stealth. They are in charge of the other scouts in the pride and are expected to train trainees. They can be male or female. Rank will be selected through RP. They are apart of the Council.

Diplomat(0/∞) The diplomats of the Pridelanders They are required to have a broad knowledge of the Pridelands' culture/traditions, the surrounding prides, and the Circle of Life. They handle matters outside of the pride, regarding other factions (the Outlands as of now), prey, etc. They specialize in the art of diplomacy. They can be male or female.

Healer(0/∞) The healers of the Pridelanders. They are required to have a broad knowledge of plants, anatomy, and poisons. They specialize in the art of healing. They can be male or female.

Warrior(0/∞) The warriors of the Pridelanders. They are required to have a broad knowledge of strategy, tactics, and attack. They specialize in the art of attack and are expected to attack for the pride. They can be male or female.

Guard(0/∞) The guards of the Pridelanders. They are required to have a broad knowledge of strategy, tactics, and defense. They specialize in the art of defense and are expected to protect the pride. They can be male or female.

Scout(0/∞) The scouts of the Pridelanders. They are required to have a broad knowledge of the Pridelands' territory alongside the stars (directions), their borders and other pride's territories. They specialize in the art of stealth. They can be male or female.

Trainees(0/∞) The trainees of the Pridelanders. Typically adolescents in the middle of training for their rank or new members of the Pridelands who just joined. They are trained by the leads of their rank but often mentored by many in regular members in their rank as well. Trainees are expected to learn the culture and traditions of the Pridelands alongside the art of whatever they are training under.

Scout(0/∞) The scouts of the Pridelanders. They are required to have a broad knowledge of the Pridelands' territory alongside the stars (directions), their borders and other pride's territories. They specialize in the art of stealth. They can be male or female.

Cubsitters(0/∞) The caretakers of the Pridelanders. They are the ones who supply protection to the little ones of the pride. If a cub does not have parents for whatever reason, cubsitters raise them as their own and supply them with lots of love and affection. Though cubs have their own parents, cubsitters also have a big part in raising them.

Cubs(0/∞) The youth of the Pridelanders. The future of the Pridelands. They are often spoiled, cherished and loved on by the pride. If one ever needs to destress, it is common practice to come play with the cubs or teach them things. Though they can be troublemakers, cubs are expected to remain in the reach of their cubsitter and the Pridelands and if they wander off, can have their trainee ceremony delayed. If your cub character wanders off alone, there are consequences such as great injury, affecting their future in the pride and even death. Be cautious of your actions as a cub.

Rogues(0/∞) The prideless. Felines that belong to no pride and wander the territories. While pridelanders don't outright attack nor chase rogues, they do have hesitance and weariness towards them. They aren't allowed to be threatened nor attacked outright, as per Mohatu's law, and doing so can be of great consequence. If rogues are caught meddling in affairs that put the Pridelanders at risk, there will be great consequence for them as well.

RULES

1. This is a literate roleplay, meaning, at least five sentences are required per reply. I understand writer's block, truly, but try to challenge yourself to write more by describing the scenery, your characters actions, your character's thoughts, their past, what they're seeing, their ambitions, their thoughts on certain felines, etc. Just yap away, essentially.

2. Do not start roleplaying without my heads-up. Feel free to submit your character sheet but don't start roleplaying until I accept your character sheet essentially. I will be doing so through private messages.

3. No powerplaying, gary sues, nor mary sue characters. It is no fun to roleplay with a character who is the best at everything and overly strong, trust. By letting your characters be believable and have flaws of their own, you'll find that it is a lot more entertaining for you as the roleplayer and for others.

4. Don't be disrespectful or rude. If you don't agree with someone or their beliefs, merely keep it to yourself and limit interaction with them. Don't go outright antagonizing or causing fights. Drama is to be avoided here and this is a safe space. If you have an issue with someone, feel free to PM me so we can have it settled.

5. Relationships must be developed. Don't outright have your character fall in love at first sight or first meeting. Crushes are fine as long as both users are on board but I am requiring that all relationships have development with proof. Or else they may not enter a mateship and may not have cubs.

6. Your character's actions have consequences! If you play a cub character and decide on leaving the pride, there is a high chance your character will die without another adult around. Including challenging the king, fighting, etc. I will roll a dice for your character's outcome with a chance of them getting away with it, not getting away with it but having a small injury, not getting away with it and having a large injury (very severe), or straight up dying. This isn't for everything though, just for certain things.

7. Certain positions/ranks will be chosen through roleplay. This is so I can spectate and see who is capable of handling a role. Please don't be upset by this, I don't want roles to be first come, first serve if they're very important.

8. Canon characters must be auditioned for! This is so I can see who is worth of playing a crucial role in the story.

9. If you're not active with your character, nothing will happen to them. But if they're of high ranking and crucial to the story, they will be demoted or remove of your possession. All of this can be avoided if you let me know of your hiatuses.

10. Characters must be realistic. I'm sorry, I will not be accepting unrealistic designs such as the ones here on Lioden. Purple, pink, green, blue, etc lions are not allowed. They must be within The Lion King's realm of possibilities. Feel free to look at Pinterest, Deviantart, etc for references. And if you don't know if your character is realistic, feel free to PM me. Creating lions through Lioden Wardrobe is fine as long as they look semi-realistic.

11. Characters with mutations are allowed but are limited. If you want your character to be mutated, PM me. Tell me about your character's mutations, how it affects their day to day life, how they feel about it, etc and make sure to reference it in the roleplay as well. As of now, primal lions are not allowed. When your characters are having cubs, they will be rolled to see how many cubs they'll have alongside if they have a mutation or not. That's one way of getting mutated characters as well.

12. Do not use stolen artwork of any TLK characters. If you want your character in TLK style, please commission, draw, or use bases/lineart. You can, of course, use characters you already have. I can even offer to design your character on a base for you if need be, just PM me, it is no issue at all! I will not be accepting real images of lions so if you have one up on your sheet, I'll PM you and offer to help design your character in TLK style. This is so immersion isn't broken.

13. Your characters age, please keep this in mind. Meaning, everyone's character will eventually pass away from old age, yes. I'm not sure how I'll make them age as of now but I'm thinking every two weeks, they age by six months. This is so cub characters don't stay as cubs forever and so the story continues advances. This gives people chances of being higher ranks, playing as heirs, playing as monarchs, etc.

14. Outlanders will become playable in later time! Just trying to get everyone settled and used to this format of roleplay before that. This roleplay will open up and have lots of plots but as of now, it'll be simple.

15. You can have up to three characters as of now. Please make them developed, flawed, believable, and well written and try not to neglect them.

16. If you read the rules, let me know your favorite character of The Lion King somewhere in your character sheet.

17. Only lions are to be played right now but later, that will change.
