Far away from your pride's territory lies a little valley, nestled in the heart of a mountain range. Birds peck at ripe fruit on trees that tower high above you. On the ground, bushes grow and stretch out. Vines reach towards you, extending their delicious berries. It's quiet and peaceful, devoid of any of the chaos of family that you're familiar with.

Planted in the middle of the field is a sign, weathered and old. "BEWARE! BERRY BEASTS" Odd. You wonder what it's referring to.

EXPLORATION

The Field
Berries burst towards you from all directions. You're safe here, or so you think. But there's a sign in the middle and rustling in the grass... what's going on?

The Forest
The treeline was visible from the field. Here, there are less bushes, but you swear that you can still see flashes of color. Unfortunately, they seem to disappear when you turn your head.

The Pond
On your way to the field, you noticed a pond. Lush greenery surrounded it, and you remember a flock of birds chirping brightly. Perhaps if you went back, you'd find something interesting.

The Cottage
On the side of a mountain sits a quaint little cottage. You remember hearing rumors of how the now-abandoned building was haunted! Are you brave enough to step foot in there and find out?

The Pride
As odd as everything has been, you miss your family. You should turn back and go home, see your kids again. Surely nothing will follow you home.

THE SHOPKEEP

Hidden behind the sign in the field sits a strawberry. It's perfectly red and ripe and... has feet? You can just make out its quiet chittering if you strain your ears.

The Wares

• Basket - With this, how could you ever NOT catch a Berry Beast? (raises chances of finding a Berry Beast to 100% regardless of exploration area)

• Fertilizer - Its potent smell is sure to draw in some interesting creatures... (raises chances of finding a mutated Berry Beast an additional 15% regardless of exploration area)

• Seed Starter - The Shopkeeper seems eager to draw your attention to the brightly colored packet. Why is it so special? (allows you to breed your Berry Beasts)

• Extra Special Dirt - At some point in your journey, you stepped in some very soft, very stinky dirt. Your Berry Beasts seem very interested in it. Maybe you should give them some! (ensures your Berry Beast litter will have 3-4 Beasties)

• Odd Ooze - You don't know where it came from or how it got stuck to your paw, but now it's there. Maybe it's good for Beasties? (increases the chance of a mutated Beastie by 25%)

• Gross Map - The Berry Beast slides you a map covered in dirt and juice. Maybe if you follow it, you'll be taken somewhere good. (10% chance of discovering a new Exploration area, 90% chance of exploring somewhere already discovered)

BREEDING

The Basics
When one Berry Beast loves another Berry Beast... you plant seeds! By taking the seeds (or, in some cases, a piece of their leaf) of two or more Berry Beasts and combining it with a Seed Starter in the Shopkeeper's wares, you can combine their DNA into little Berry Beasts, also known as Beasties. This process takes three days and can grant up to four Beasties.

The Parents
To have a successful harvest, you must first have two or more Berry Beasts. The maximum number of Berry Beast parents is four. The number of parents is not related to the number of Beasties. This means that four Berry Beasts may have only one Beastie!

Additional Items
To ensure your harvest is as bountiful as you'd like, the Shopkeep may have some items of interest. For large litters, please look at the Extra Special Dirt. For a boosted chance at a random or genetic mutation, please check out the Odd Ooze.
