Legends of the Kin p2 The second chapter for the Legends of the Kin 2) Moon Rising's Rebellion .....a) Cubhood Dreams ||||| Moon Rising was a very funny cub. He was long-fanged, unlike his half-siblings Fanthom and Reed; he had a bobbed tail, unlike his sister Gally; and he was almost as big as the adolscent cubs when he as only six months. Moon Rising also noticed that his paws were much bigger and he often was laughed at for that: Bigfoot and Heavypaw were some nicknames the younger cubs called him. The older cubs and adolscents often avoided him and gave him side eyes because of how fast he grew and how often he beat them in play-fights. ||||| Moon Rising wanted to tell his mother about this but he was scared because one of the adolscents named Honeylake told him that if he did tell her, he would be severely punished and it was better not to. Honeylake's sister, Lily, followed him later and whispered to him that he'd better listen to Honeylake, because her threats were always true and Lily wanted him safe and sound. ||||| While Sunsetbringer was extremely satisfied every day about his new heir, Moon Rising was not. He sulked, clawed almost everything in reach, and yawled loudly during the middle of nights. Almost all the cubs hated him because he was different and he was treated better by Sunsetbringer, the king of Sun Pride. But some cubs, Lily, Kailey, and a big muscular male adolscent named Gravel, supported and helped him. Lily, a superb hunter, taught him how to find prey and hunt in the most professional, succesful way; Kailey, a great tracker, taught him how to use the shadow and sounds to keep hiddena and stalk both prey and lions; and Gravel, strong and respected, taught him how to fight most efficiently and how to quickly end a fight. ||||| Moon Rising learned quick and fast. In a mere time of six months training, he had become the best in hunting and fighting. He could hunt a full-grown wildebeest single-pawed, hunt a younger giraffe without help, could battle down an elephant with ease. He noticed that Sunsetbringer looked at him even more, and the whisperers whispered even mroe often and fiercely. The lionesses and Caspian, the submale, had regarded him with a lot of interest. Even other kings from other prides visiting Sun Pride stared at him, dragging a crocodile carcass back home. ||||| But fame nor interest was not in Moon Rising's mind. As a full-fletched adolscent, he made sure all those who laughed at him got what they got. He lured them with fat bits of prey to a far, dark, deserted cave, and attacked them when they arrived. Reed, who always called him the worst names even after he told him to stop a trillion times, once came home with two torn ears, nose bleeding, and several long scratches running on his sides, no idea who mauled him. Pine, an adolscent who always spread cruel rumours about Moon Rising, was found staggering into the camp with hind leg missing, both ears torn off and tail ripped to shreds. And, lastly, they found (from a horrible screech by Sunrisebringer) a dead Honeylake, fur soaked with blood, throat ripped out, and skin mauled horribly. ||||| Of course, nobody knew or could prove who they thought it could be. Yes, the gossipers gossiped it was Moon Rising, but no; Moon Rising came back with news that evil humans were moving into their territory, setting territories on fire, upturning trees and clearing the river. Worst of all, they were setting traps for lions and felines alike, to brually mutilate and kill them. ||||| So Moon Rising immediaty reported to the king and his father, Sunsetbringer. He found him in the King's den, pacing around looking panicked. Wrinkles had pronounced on his face and he was starting to look fragile. Moon Rising immediatly seized his chance. ||||| "Sunsetbringer," Moon Rising meowed, walking into the cave and deliberately closing the entrance with his body by sitting down. ||||| Sunsetbringer nodded to him, still pacing. "Yes?" ||||| "Father, don't we all think we are in hard times?" ||||| Sunsetbringer nodded but he kept pacing. Moon Light sighed. Only if his father could stop walking around like a scared rabbit and listen to him like a real lion. ||||| "Father, I believe something has to be done." Moon Light looked at his pacing King. "Lions are dying everywhere, not only in our pride. The humans are geting ever more closer to our territory, destroying everything once they get there. New times are coming, and new things have to be done." He looked at his father straight. "Father, may I succed you as King of our Pride?" ||||| This made Sunsetbringer stop short. He turned around and really acknowloged Moon Rising for the first time before meowing hoarsely, "Why?" ||||| Moon Rising crouched to meet level with Sunsetbringer. He meowed in a soft, comforting tone, "Because new times are coming, Father. This is not old times. And you shall always lead the old times. But now, since new times are coming, new changes must be made. If a flower is always dependent on one thing, won't it die eventually? If a flower is soley dependent on the sun, what if it rains? What if it rains, Father?" ||||| After a few empty moments, Sunsetbringer meowed quietly, "It dies, right? It dies." ||||| Moon Rising nodded. "Yes. It dies. And what if the flower was our Pride? You don't want your precious, made-from-scratch Pride die from stupid humans, right?" ||||| The King nodded and Moon Rising continued, "So you see, we must need a new king. I believe I am suitable, but it is sorely your choice. You could choose Caspian, or maybe Gravel, or maybe--" ||||| "I chose YOU!" Sunsetbringer roared, looking confident and furious at the same time. "GO! I choose Moon Rising, heir of Sun Pride, as my succeder! I shall retire, and hand him all the duties of King. Moon Rising, go forth!" ||||| Moon Rising, new king of Sun Pride, looked around and saw the entire Pride staring. Some were resentful, some excited, some nervous. ||||| But Moon Rising did not care. He was ready for everything, ready to achieve his plans, ready to make his changes. .....b) Moon Pride ||||| Changes were going fast in the pride. First, it was renamed to Moon Pride because of the new King's name. Second, Sunsetbringer, the retired king, had decided to go to the heavens right away instead of waiting for death. Next, they had moved to a new land: crossing the rough river (some lions had died), the lions had found a huge, amazing territory that Moon Rising managed to fight for from a big pride of rich lions. Lastly, new rules had been made. All lionesses had to hunt three times every day, with a group of perfectly 5 lions. Caspian and Gravel, the two submales, patrolled five times every day and was to report any cases of enemies; if yes, they'd fight to the death; if they were losing, they were both to roar two times, and a party would join them to help. And the cubs started Training from five months old, after they were weaned. They were taught all types of skills, including hunting, fighting, climbing and stalking. ||||| Moon Rising had one main mate: Reaper, a midnight-black lioness with teal-coloured eyes and Ferus mutation. They had sired two very successful cubs: Night (a muscular silver Primal male fit for another pride's heir, and Moon Rising would sell him for around 2 golden beetles) and Meteorite, a Cimmerian-based female cub. ||||| Otherwise from Reaper, Moon Rising often mass-bred wild lionesses. Once every week, he would go exploring to flirt and claim with wild lionesses that were in heat, and bring them home. He often got twenty-five lions home every mass-breed. Next, he'd breed to them all after feeding and playing with them, to make sure they keep their hunger and happiness to the best before the cubs were born. And once the cubs were born, he would check which ones were good and feed the mothers which gave birth to them, while he killed the useless cubs and mothers to free up space. Then, he'd sell the cubs when they were weaned and chase the mothers away because they were useless. ||||| So Moon Rising kept the best cubs he sired to grow them up (including Ferus males to increase their stats), and he trophied extremely rare lionesses which some call Raffle Lionesses. He had bough a very close 14/15 lioness with just base missing; after a few breedings (none gave good cubs), he sold her for an ample profit. ||||| He also got many stud requests. Seizing that chance, he increased the price to 300 silver beetles per request and quickly, he increased in currency and even got a few dozen golden beetles too. ||||| Whilst, Reaper was getting very restless. She had sired many famous, delicate cubs already and she wanted something new and better. So she went to Moon Rising and asked, "Isn't the new Event coming son? The May Event, so-called Championships?" ||||| Moon Rising nodded absentmindedly, currently tearing a piece of meat off for Lily's youngest cub (she had bred to another king because if she bred to Moon Rising, the cubs would be inbred), Firefang. The frisky ember-based cub frolicked around, sometimes pinching a bit of meat away from the pieces. Reaper frowned at her mate's unconcern and pressed on, "So aren't you supposed to be preparing, Moon Rising? We all want you to get good results for all the Tournaments, maybe win each one as well. You know, everybody's betting that you'd win each and every round." ||||| Moon Rising nodded again, this time trying to coax Firefang to taste some impala. Reaper felt a wave of impatience. "Moon Rising," she hissed, "please. I want to ask you something. ||||| "Moon Rising, could you perhaps buy a Lion Meat, or even perhaps a GMO Cow? I'm curious if you can," she meowed slowly. He looked at her, ears pricked with interest for her to continue. "And, if you can, a Buffalo Scrotum as well?" ||||| Moon Rising looked away for a second before answering, "I do not have the money to buy a GMO Cow, but yes, I can do a Buffalo Scrot if you'd like. And I have a Lion Meat already, given after completing a quest; I've been itching to try it on someone but I don't know who." ||||| Reaper looked at him, excitement rushing through her veins. Finally, finally, she could try out these 'breeding items' that could give you a chance for something really good. .....c) New Times ||||| Moon Rising gave the buffalo scrotum and the meat to his mate, Reaper; she ate it willingly despite the strange tastes. When he asked if she wanted an instant birth feather, she declined immediatly and said she wanted a walk. Moon Rising nodded but asked her why she wanted a walk before they even bred. Reaper did not answer but merely just smiled vaguely at him. As she left the territory, Moon Rising watched her go, tail twitching. ||||| Reaper, yes, went for a walk, but not just for thinking purposes. She had found a new, better King, quite far from here, named Blackwave. He was a fanciable male with the Shadow patches mutation; he looked quite perfect aNd he wanted a main mate. He and Reaper were discussing about this for quite a long time already, and they were ready to do what was planned. ||||| "Blackwave!" Reaper called, confidently trotting into his territory. She sniffed the air and looked around for the pretty male king. She smelled something new, though. Last time she visited, there was only the scent of Blackwave and an elderly lioness. But now, there was the new scent overlapping those of Blackwave: it was the scent of a new, young lioness and cubs. ||||| "Blackwave?" Reaper meowed, now wary. Did Blackwave get chased away, like Moon Rising's father's father and mother? But no. She saw a dark shadow of a lion pad to her from a cave. "Blackwave!" she exclaimed, running to him and rubbing her body around his. She was so, so excited to start the plan. ||||| But when she looked up, no, he did not look excited about the plan. Instead, his yellow eyes had a new gleam in them as he slowly walked backwards and gave a sneer. "Reaper," he meowed, "have I introduced you to my new mate, Fang?" ||||| Before Reaper could answer, a magnificent amd sleek lioness padded out of the cave he emerged from. Her teal eyes glittered and her Primal fangs were bared with interest. "Reaper," she hissed with malice, "do you remember me?" ||||| And yes, Reaper did. She felt like she knew this lioness, Fang. It felt like as if she was an old friend, from a very old memory. ||||| Fang smiled with delight and coldness. "Stop thinking and tell me, Reaper!" ||||| Reaper opened her mouth but Fang cut over her. "Yes, I aM your sister, Reaper. Don't you remember me? We used to go out every day to explore, and sneak impala chunks from Mother..." ||||| A memory washed over Reaper. She saw herself as a ten-month-old cub, two years younger than now, running after Fang. Yes, Fang was still sleek-furred and dark-coloured, with bright teal eyes. A icily beautiful black lioness watched over them lazily, flicking her tail to and fro. Reaper remembered that there were a lot of other lions in her old Pride as well. She remembered her Trainer, Scar (a dark lion lived to his name: he was flanked by so much scars he was barely recognizable), and the Pride Leader, Vortex (a Cimmerian-based Ferus that looked almost exactly like Meteorite except that Meteorite had no mutatin). She also remebered play-fighting with Fang and another sibling of theirs', but she couldn't remember the name or what he looked like, but she remembered that he dissapered a few months before she and Fang were sold. ||||| "Yep, Reaper," Fang snarled with bloodthirsty excitement. "You remembr that Starflight dissapered? And did you know why?" ||||| Reaper knew what was coming, but her paws wouldn't budge. She didn't answer the question. ||||| "Well, I killed him. And you're next!" Reaper only saw Blackwave's smile of smugness when Fang leapt at her. With a yowl, Reaper sidestepped and lashed a paw at Fang's face. It connected, but Fang grabbed her paw in her teeth and threw her down. ||||| Licking the blood off her face, Fang snarled, "Did you think I'd go easy on you, you little bug?" She leaned forward and grasped Reaper's scuff in her jaws and threw her hard on the ground. Reaper clenched her teeth and scrambled back up. She didn't know what was happening. Why wasn't Blackwave helping? Was he pretending, or did he actually get a new main mate? As Fang ran to her, she was so lost in thought she wasn't able to roll away. Reaper gave a screech of pain as Fang threw all her weight onto her. Claws ripped into her fur and jaws sank in her flesh. She struggled but sh couldn't get Fang off her, and she was about to die--her sister was closing her fangs into her neck--Blackwave was watching, emotionless-- ||||| And suddenly, Blackwave gave a snarl of surprise and fury. Reaper looked around, surprised, just as Fang was knocked off her. She gave a gasp as she saw what was happening: Moon Rising had came! ||||| The huge Ferus easily threw Fang off her feet and threw a huge left front paw on her chest, trapping her to the ground, as he delicately unsheathed his right paw's claws. Fang gave a strangled mix of plees and prays while Blackwave crouched down, huge eyes intent on Moon Rising, looking seethed. ||||| "I wouldn't attack if I were you," Moon Rising meowed without even looking at him, tail flicking with boredom. "You see, if I were you, I'd rather keep by safety in front. Because you both will die anyway if you intervere. A painful, slow death.". Blackwave stared at him, incredoulous, but he didn't attack. "Ask Reaper if you want. She can tell you," Moon Rising offered. ||||| Reaper felt hot as Blackwave slowly faced her, eyes betraying nothing. "Why ask Reaper?" He meowed this to Moon Rising, but was looking at her. ||||| "Because she knows the costs of betrayal and cruetly," Moon Rising answered, still looking bored as Fang pled and mewled under his grasp. "Reaper, don't you agree that this particular King, Blackwave, has decieved and betrayed you from your emotions and his promises?" ||||| Feeling slightly embarresed but elated, Reaper nodded. She looked for any reaction from Blackwave, but there was none. Confused, Reaper wondered why he wasn't so scared or terrified that she was soon going to reveal all his secrets. ||||| Moon Rising was emotionless as he meowed, "Then, Blackwave, you must make a sacrificial choice. Would you rather lose all limbs, or see Fang killed in front of you? Remember, if you run, then both Fang and you will die." ||||| Blackwave looked speechless. Reaper knew his worst fear was death, as he told her a few days ago. Then, after what seemed like an eternity, Blackwave turned tail and fled into the dense bushes. Fang gave a single wail of horror and betrayal just before claws lashd across her throat. ||||| Moon Rising gingerly placed her body behind a large bush and placed a few flowers on it before padding to a surprised Reaper. "W-why didn't you go after Blackwave, didn't you tell him if he fled--?" ||||| Moon Rising shook his head sadly, his mane swishing. "I gave him a simple choice. He didn't choose the obvious answer. Don't you wonder why he is so scared of death?" ||||| Reaper nodded immediatly. "Yes, I did, I wondered so much about it. Do you know why?" ||||| "No, I don't," Moon Rising answered solenmly, "but I am able to tell you: do not fear death. This may sound crazy, but death is just another stage in life. Those who welcome death are real lions." ||||| He then beckoned her with his tail. "We'll give Blackwave another chance. Come, Reaper, let's go home." ||||| They bred eventually and after a few months, they had three amazing cubs: a decennial-based primal, a cimmerian primal fangs and a cute ferus. They sold them for an ample amount of 15GB. ||||| Years passed. Moon Rising and Reaper got new cubs, new pridemates (including a lot of ferus girls) and they raised their male feruses to high-stats and ready-for-heiring. Yet there came a time, where Moon Rising had to think about a new heir. But yes, he found out something new. ||||| Look reps and Mutation reps were some new trends. Look reps change the look of the king, while Mutation reps change only the mutation but keep the look. So, one day, Moon Rising saw a handsome colourbomb male with perfect markings, base and mane hanging out in the Trading Route. It was cheep; he bought him for a mere 1GB; and he immediatly bought a generation 3 ferus as well for a cheep price. ||||| So he called the heir Sakura Samurai, which fit well with the colours on his pelt. Sakura was a kind, good lion who often gave good tidings and always helped out. After Moon Rising retired, Sakura went over for the duties. He carried them well, and had a well amount of friends, supporters and cubs. Although the Pride was still named Moon Pride, he made sure that Moon Rising was not forgotten. Reaper was given a well-done furneral, and her cubs were all well-treated and fed. ||||| And over the years, Sakura was always a fair and good-natured king, a feat that nearly nobody could achieve. But he would never forget determined, courageous Moon Rising, who brought him home, taught him, and handed down his leadership to him. Read the Entire Saga!
