This isn't super detailed, I just thought of this and thought it was cute.

Little short theory is just that the reason it takes three Meteorite Shards to take a single step in the Celestial Explore is because your lion has to put down three little rocks to fit his paw on to be able to walk in, y'know, space.

The only reason I posted this is because I want you to imagine a big lion (especially if you have a Primal king) trying to balance himself one step at a time on a bunch of tiny Meteorite Shards in the vast space full of monsters just roaming around.

Then when he bumps into a monster in SPACE, he has to continue to balance himself on these little make-shift steps as he fights these other worldly beings. Because he knows that if he falls, he's probably not going to be able to make it back home.

You thought forcing your lion to fight dragons and stardust creatures was scary enough? Add "falling do your doom" to the list.
