So I haven't really made one of these before but here we go, have you ever wanted a little tune to play when someone is in your den? Maybe whale sound or your favorite video game track, maybe you want a laugh with a rickroll or so. Well I propose my idea of an option to add music to your den, ofcourse this would probably have people abusing it so hopefully there is a mute and or report option right below the Chat Box, I just thought this would be neat and a few folks agreed but please do tell my why you would or would not agree. Thank you for reading. |

It would be neat, just unsure how they'll code the system/mechanic to work 0 players like this post! Like? |

While I can see this being somewhat fun, I can also see it becoming awfully annoying and may even cause accessibility issues for some users, such as those with sensory disabilities. I'd maybe be okay with it if it is turned off by default and can be turned on by choice on the den page itself. That way, people would have a choice without having to listen beforehand. Some older social medias (MySpace comes to mind) did have this feature, and although I have never personally used it, I have heard that it was a bit much for some. Edit: as Lone Wolfe mentioned, copyright may also be a concern. I know that Lioden has strict rules when it comes to character sheet images for this exact reason, and I would guess that similarly, this would be moderated just as heavily. If I am correct about that, it sounds like it could be a headache for the moderators, unless you had to pick from a pre-determined selection. (Although, maybe they'd have some kind of filtering system in place for ease if this were implemented, or it would be made easier some other way—this is purely speculatory.) 5 players like this post! I thought about copyright issues too and can see them being an issue, though I do think having it off by default is a good idea and having the mute being easily accessible, thank you for the feedback ^^ 0 players like this post! Like? |

I dont see this working with outside music due to copyright reasons; it would only be possible if admins invested their time and money into ordering Lioden's own simple tunes, and even then, it would be Incredibly annoying for 90% of people - I know when I was browsing Neopets fan sites, I immediately closed and blocked all sites that had forced music playing, its very annoying and its downright harmful for people with slow internet - so it'd 100% must start as Off for all people and only have the option to turn it On for interested people... overall, so much work for something only barely few people will enjoy? Its just too much effort for too little usability. No support, sorry. There are other things admins can direct work and funds to. Just put quick links to your chosen music, make sure they follow Lioden rules regarding copyright and content, and people who want to listen to music in your Den will click on those links and listen to it - and those people who dont, will just scroll past that link and not click it. Simple, effective, require 0 coding and 0 work. Solved. There are several web comics that I read that do that; put links in pages' description to music fitting for certain pages/scenes, and people interested in listening to it open those links and listen to that music while reading. No need for coding a dedicated music player into a web comic page - this system works perfectly fine. Even I open those links sometimes when Im curious what song did the author choose for this scene! 6 players like this post! Like? Edited on 14/07/24 @ 13:23:13 by Mad Hyena (#29080) |
