When Ansa looked up at the cave her body began feeling more tired at the thought of a nice place to sleep that wasn’t a hard concrete floor with nothing on it. Then the mention of food made her salivate a bit and unintentionally she licked her lips. “Thank you again Zephyr.” She then climbed up into the den and watched him as he stalked away from her. She sniffed around for a while, getting a feel for her surroundings. Ansa flopped onto the floor, it was much more comfortable than her previous ‘den’. She slid around, rubbing herself on the floor and curled up, taking a small nap and waiting for Zephyrs return.

Zephyr nodded and stalked off in search of prey. He was gone for a couple hours, giving her plenty of time to rest and also giving the sun time to dip down in the sky. It was evening, crickets began to sing and the evening was cool and peaceful. Zephyr made his way back to his den, dragging along a springbok in his jaws. He stopped outside the den and released the animal, it's body flopping onto the ground. He stood on his hips legs, his front paws resting on the cliff as he peeked into the cave to make sure she was still there.

(I'm thinking of unsubbing from the group rps, idk, I'm not feeling very interested in them with all the new characters making things confusing XD)

Ansa had been sleeping peacefully with no dreams or nightmares until she heard rustling of grass just outside. She looked at the sky, the sun low on the horizon made the outside look so pretty. She heard the flop of a body, she presumed this to be Zephyr returning from his hunt. She stretched and yawned and turned to see Zephyr peaking up into the den. She jumped a tad and then laughed to herself, “I knew you were out there and still scared me haha.” She walked towards the entrance of the den and jumped down gracefully.

(I wouldn’t blame you, I think I’m going to unsubscribe from the two that I am following right now, I’m just really gonna focus my time into this one lol. Also whenever you read this I’m done with what I was leaving for and will be checking back in every so often :) )

He nodded his head, finding himself oddly glad to see that she was still in his den. "It's good for you to be alert, someday it might not be me." He said and backed up, falling back down onto all fours and moving back to his kill. "Come, you should know that in a pride, males typically eat first, but since it is just the two of us, we can eat together." He stated and crouched down by the body, tearing into to begin eating. He assumed that she would follow suit, he enjoyed the taste of the fresh meat and wondered if she had ever tasted meat this fresh before.

(Yeah, I went ahead and unsubbed from both, this rp will keep my rp bug satisfied and I don't have to worry if someone is going to interrupt my character building moment >:( (Genuinely still salty about that XD ) )

Ansa nodded taking in any information he might be willing to give to her. She then seen the dead animal and as Zephyr was tearing into it just sniffed it all over. She was trying to familiarize herself with the scent of the animal just in case she needed to hunt for herself sooner rather than later. She thanked Zephyr for the meal. Then she laid down opposite of him and tore off into the hide and got to the meat below. She had never tasted something so good. Between bites she thought aloud, “What the fuck were they feeding me in that facility..?” She continues tearing into the meat trying to pace herself but found it hard to.

(lol I don’t blame you I would be pretty salty too!! xD)

Zephyr let out an amused snort when he heard her say this, glad that she was enjoying the meal he had provided and that she would now forever get to enjoy real meat. He gorged himself on the springbok, wanting to eat as much of it as he could while it was fresh. The springbok was pretty much the perfect size for both of them to get nice and full. It didn't take long for the two of them to strip the carcass down to just bone, hide, and entrails. He sat up and licked his lips, bloated with the heavy meal. The two of them were now covered in blood, but fully satisfied. "Now the hyenas and vultures will take care of the rest." He said and let out a big yawn, sleepy after the hunt and the big meal.

After licking a bone clean she kicks it away and lays down on her back beside Zephyr. She glances at him, wanting to ask questions but feeling maybe it wasn’t the right time. So instead she rolled over onto her side, facing away from him and sighing softly. She hadn’t felt this full in a long while and the feeling was deeply satisfying. She brought a paw to her mouth and licks the blood off, savoring more of the taste. The sun had almost completely set now and the stars were starting to shine, “It’s beautiful out here.” Rolling back to her back she looked at the stars, her eyes glinting from the shine.

"Yes...it is." He looked over at her, finding himself admiring her beauty for a moment. Maybe he just hadn't been with a lioness in a long time, but he couldn't help but think she was radiant, especially now that she was feeling better. He put the thought out of his mind and looked up to the stars with her. He decided to lay down as well, laying on his back beside her to look up at the stars. He was quiet for several moments before he spoke. "Legend claims they are the souls of our ancestors." He mentioned while looking at the stars, breathing the night air deeply as they laid together. "That when a lion dies, their body becomes of the earth, while their spirit becomes of the sky."

A smile crosses Ansa’s muzzle at the thought and she looks at Zephyr. “I like that thought… it is nice to think about one day if I ever have cubs I will look down at them and help feed the animal in turn will feed them and their cubs.” Her eyes glisten with a small layer of wetness. She sat up off of the ground and looks back at Zephyr. “I think it is time for me to go to sleep.” She smiled. “Are you coming to sleep as well?” She sits there waiting for an answer from the male lion.

"Yes, I think I will." He said, rolling onto his stomach and standing with a grunt. He followed her along and hopped up into their den. It was small enough that once they got laid down and comfortable, their sides were brushing against each other. He laid his head down, facing the entrance of the cave just in case he needed to defend them. "Tomorrow we can go to the water hole. Goodnight Ansa." He said quietly and closed his eyes, relaxing his body.

“That sounds great,” with that she curled her paws in and tucked her head to her chest. “Goodnight Zephyr..” not long after she dozed off into deep sleep. For a moment Ansa squeezed her eyes shut in her sleep and her body tensed up. Her dreams were full of her time in the facility. She knew it wasn’t real, that it was just her mind. But if she was captured again, she would go back to that. Luckily her mind soon went blank and she was able to sleep well the rest of the night.

Zephyr stayed awake for a bit longer, laying there keeping watch over her and making sure they were safe before he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. He dreamed that he was a cub again, playing with his brother under the watchful eyes of his doting mother. He missed his youth, but that was long behind him. The night swept by without any disturbance, and soon, the morning sun crept into their den. Zephyr opened his eyes slowly, feeling the sun warm his fur. He yawned deeply squinting his eyes as his sleep left him slowly.

Ansa, feeling movement next to her, lifted her head and blinked away the sleep from her eyes. She looked about their den and then to Zephyr, “Good morning,” she says as happily as she could. She had never been an early riser but things were different now and she was going to have to adapt. She jumped onto the ground outside, stretched her paws out, and kneaded the ground. She yawned and peaked up into the den at Zephyr and gave him a smile. The sun made her pelt seem brighter and it matched her mood. She was happy to have woken up beside Zephyr, maybe it was just because she was free but she felt it was more then that.

Zephyr was never overly happy to wake up early either, but with his den facing the East there wasn't much choice. He yawned again and shook his head, his mane fluffing out as he tried to wake up. He saw her smile finally gave her a small smile back, standing and hopping out of the cave. He stretched his body deeply, grunting as he did. "Good morning." He finally said, standing beside her now. "How did you sleep?" He asked, sitting down and kicking his paw before running it over his face, doing some light grooming.

She hesitated for a moment, “I slept fine thank you for asking.” It wasn’t technically a lie if it was half true right? “How’d you sleep though? Hopefully I didn’t make you uncomfortable I know you’re probably used to sleeping alone.” Shit. That came out wrong, “Not that like I dont think you could get a pride or anything! Or that you’ve been out here alone for a long time! It’s juts the den is small, but not like too small, its nice I like it..” She was making a fool of herself so she just stopped and looked at the ground and kept her head facing away from Zephyr. “Just ignore all of that please.”
