I've bought a few adoptable's and while it's different for everyone i'd say the more unique and consistency the adopt has the better. A lot of people do warrior cats / wolf adopts and while they're quite popular there's more competition with those as well. I'd try to appeal to all types of people with different color schemes, themes, and adoptables. A lot of people want their adopts to be unique so while using bases is good to make batches i'd also go ahead and add unique add-ons to a few. I'd also go for full/half bodys when making adoptables as it gives more character to the adopt^^

^^ Very high quality and detailed designs sell the best for sure. I know when I sell adopts my off- base ones also do better than ones I did using a base. Making sure your adopts also follow some sort of color theory guidelines is also an easy way to make them eye catching, using contrasting colors such as dark grey/blue with bright oranges and pinks are some of my favorite palettes, and those designs always sell.

You can also make your thread super cute and presentable by coding it to have unique colors and cute emojis.

And of course regularly bumping your thread is important. Sometimes I would just watch netflix and click "bump" every 5 minutes for hours!
