hello! so, as the title says.. i have a suggestion for changing how the Chased Lioness pool works. as of a recent update, the lioness claiming menu now shows a white star when the lioness has been picked from the chased pool. however, with this, has come a realization.. a lot of chased lionesses are actually just regular NCLs that the game generates who have been chased off! i've kept track of my encounters recently and out of 15 "chased" lionesses i found, only 2 of them were actual expected chased lionesses and not chased NCLs. and that really sucks! seeing the white star, getting excited, only for the lioness to load, and she's a typical NCL and not the kind of chased you want. also - with the addition of the korobela, this issue is even more obvious. if you get a real chased and decide to reroll, you normally end up rerolling to a chased NCL which is worse than who you had before because she's game-generated. it's incredibly frustrating and a total waste of the item! it makes the korobela basically useless because it's not worth the risk to reroll a chased. so, i have suggestions to change this. to change the chased pool so that players are finding what you'd expect a chased lioness to be and not chased NCLs. [- add a criteria for entering the chased pool. in this, a criteria is added. when a lioness is chased, the game checks a few things. if the lioness meets the requirements, she gets added to the chased pool for other players to find. if she doesn't, she just gets deleted. here's the "requirements" that i came up with: - having an unnatural base (such as a custom base, or anything rare/special - not a base you can find on a game-generated NCL) - having more than 2 markings (excluding hidden markings) - having breed only traits such as tier 2 markings, event eyes, etc - having other special traits such as enclave markings, applicator eyes, etc if a lioness meets at least one of these, she gets added to the chased pool. if she doesn't meet any of them then she's either a game-generated NCL or basically the same thing as one and she gets deleted. a lioness only needs to meet ONE requirement to get added to the pool. [- making chased lionesses a little more rare if the system in point 1 is added, then it means that all chased encountered will be the expected chased rather than chased NCLs. however, this means i would have found 15 chased in the last 2 days. so, if the criteria are added, chased encounters should also be reduced to make up for the fact that the pool is no longer diluted by chased NCLs. i would love to hear other people's opinions on this so please feel free to reply to this post with your ideas or discuss the points i made |

This is similar to my idea, but I feel like it's much better executed here. Good post! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Apparently there's three(?) of these. So crossposting here too. I never know which one the mods are gunna close. :weary: This is an issue I didn't think about It's also an incredibly easy and inexpensive way to grief / troll all of the players using this item and should be handled ASAP Any player could simply chase dozens upon dozens of lions claimed during the month to try and ensure that players waste these items. I think it would be good to implement some sort of back end flag that filters out these lions when using the item. On WD, they are called "re-chased", and it's a problem over there because chased wolves are marked with a shooting star, even if they are re-chased "NBW" (the equivelent of NCLs"). 1 player likes this post! Oh wow, three? I guess we all genuinely hate/dislike the NCL chased stuff. We could ask the user who did it first and add our ideas/povs to their post. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/08/24 @ 12:25:37 by Moom- (G1 Ra, oh god Jags) (#320832) |

Fodder buttons exist to solve this problem already. Users need to utilize those options already available. I don't see a need for this. 'well it costs energy' yes, because you're 'gaining' your karma change, essentially. That's the price. As far as the item waste- it is entirely optional to use this item when catnip already raises your odds by raising encounters. Catnip is cheap and easy. Other players don't chase NCLs to specifically annoy users who use this item, they have myriad reasons that are no less valid. Fodder buyers already basically solve this. I sold a big lot of NCLs yesterday super quickly because a fodder buyer bought them. There are clans for this and there have always been fodder buyers. This also just assumed that because a lioness is chased she should automatically be special and I don't really agree with that. Any lion can be chased for any reason and it's only up to the person who chased her. Essentially chasing is to get rid of lions anyway so the expectation shouldn't necessarily be that they're all treasures. I chase really nice super high BO girls that get foddered all the time. Sucks, but whatever. What's valuable to me isn't what's valuable to everyone and this is basically trying to control how others play imo. 'Well it's a plain NCL' and maybe she has a skin I need or a mane color I like or a mark I want, for example. I don't think this is a real problem and I don't think it needs a solution. Obviously some disagree and that's fine, but I wanted to share my thoughts. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@cyanide fodder buyers CANT help if players are chasing NCLs they claim. i dont have the energy or the patience to set up a trade to get rid of NCLs that i mass bred. i just chase them and im sure many others do too, which contributes to the problem at hand! so i disagree that foddering is the solution, because fodder buyers are almost useless if they arent given the chance to buy up NCLs. 0 players like this post! People chase them because they aren't aware people will buy them. With the increase in fodder buyers, I don't think it'll be a problem. 0 players like this post! Like? |

It's only a problem because, to put it bluntly, players don't want to work for an incredibly minimal risk and want guarantees. How is that fun? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sorry that was worded weirdly. Players want items to be guarantees, but a lot of the time that will make the item itself overpowered. So korobela is what started all of this to begin with, and I don't care if korobela is expensive or not but ultimately trying to force on others what you consider a good enough chased is trying to dictate how they play the game. Korobela is the item and the 'risk' is well okay you get a chased you don't want. Okay that'll happen anyway whether NCLs are in the pool or not? Most of the chased are ugly and not worth the orchid or GB so they get deleted if you leave/fail. If you're not using the korobela item then it's no skin off your back regardless. Remember that chased are, ultimately, someone's garbage most of the time. You can't expect valuable lions in the chased pool. I accidentally deleted a chunk somewhere so if something doesn't make sense I'll fix it in a bit, chasing a toddler. Will check back in to fix whatever I deleted.... Eventually 0 players like this post! Like? |

Out of all posts I’ve seen offering suggestions on how to solve this problem, I personally think this one is the perfect solution, as it addresses the original issue and a likely future issue that would arise from fixing the original. Because as you said, we’ve seen now thanks to the star that chased lions are actually WAY more common to come across than initially believed— it’s just that the majority of them are chased NCLs, so we never knew. I completely support lions needing to meet at least 1 requirement to enter the chased pool, while also making chased lions rarer! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Mmm I’m leaning towards no here, I get the frustration with an item and it failing repeatedly or you’re getting duds regardless of the use, BUT I have to lean more towards what Cyanide said. If everyone kept using the item, or even one player, and they did achieve their goal of gaining a high BO, special or rare based lioness, that DOES essentially OP that player and the item. They’re going to be getting these great bases, markings, low gen, clean chased lionesses WAY more than other players which will ruin the market up or down depending on what they do with them. This is like wanting a grantee when it comes to lion scrotums imo. Adding a lower chance of getting a special, rare, or high marked chased is already rectified by chased NCLs being in the pool. If out of 15 “chased” you found, only 2 were “real” then I’d say the chances are already pretty decent. Also to be honest, taking the time to put up NCLs for trade instead of listing them for fodder buyers is a personal choice. If you feel like chasing attributes to the problem then take the time to sell them, because fodder buyers ARE common (and you’re getting currency in exchange). There are also groups that exist that chase special lionesses to let other players get them. They also give out rewards. If there was an issue with people chasing NCLs to annoy player (tbh I haven’t seen that) then there’s another solution. 1 player likes this post! Like? No support simply because the requirements are too restrictive? I’d rather just see a system where if a lioness was claimed, she is not eligible for reentry into the pool. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Paws (#39487) :: I'm only not in favor of the "eventually it will work" argument because in my opinion, there's enough gambling against the odds on this site, and it's both exhausting and potentially addicting. I understand the points those against changing how the chased pool works make. I really do. But I truly would love to see more items I farm or pay for have a guaranteed "functions as it says on the tin" mechanic without having to hope I don't get unlucky and completely waste my money and time. To use a similar, personal example of random mechanics in purchased items affecting player experience: The change to marking apps was a great example of this. I don't personally know a single person that liked the original way marking applicators work. I'm sure someone did. But farming and buying apps over and over, using them, only to *never* get the mark you wanted, felt exploitative. Even after the 'no duplicate markings in a row' addition, it didn't make it feel better. I remember one month, after 6+ apps I bought didn't get me what I needed, after I resorted to buying several more and still didn't get the marking simply due to bad RNG, I stopped applying apps. I stopped buying them. I stopped farming them. I was broke because of this mechanic. But, horrifyingly, I couldn't stop myself. Because it's just bad RNG, right? It had to work eventually. Eventually it would pay off... right? It never did. And because of the addictive nature of "just one more", that's yet another danger behind items like this having an RNG element. In a way, using korobela are like using lootboxes. There's the rush of not knowing what you'll find, and that rush can get addictive. Besides, there's already a 'fail' condition to using korobela: the chance of getting an ugly, plain chased with 5 common oasis markings or in weird colours. I feel like that's more than enough random element, you know? Even if you take out the NCLs from the pool, nothing is going to guarantee you find something nice or that you want. Hopefully that makes sense. I'm a bit headache-y. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 27/10/24 @ 00:54:58 by [♰] Yharnam (#112370) |

> [♰] Yharnam (#112370) that is EXACTLY what i mean, worded so much better than i ever could! most of the time when i get a "real" chased, i'll claimed her, and chase her again once the timer is over because she's a colourbomb and i don't like colourbombs. i claim and chase so she goes back into the pool for someone else. my issue is that i get "real" chased so infrequently that i get a "real" chased who i like NAYBE once every 2-3 weeks. because almost all the chased i find are chased game-generated NCLs, and then, as you said, a lot of the "real" chased - while awesome - aren't what i want. you explained it all so much better than i can also that applicator thing sounds like hell.. i'm so glad i wasn't around for that because i would also be broke 1 player likes this post!
