Personally no support. As much as this is an absolutely gorgeous base, it is simply just a recolour of a pre-existing base [well, an overlaying of several to recolour] and has no originality to it. It'd be a nice new combo base, but looks far too similar to frostbitten for my liking. In my opinion, bases should be hand-crafted and not made from pre-existing bases unless used as a reference.

I am aware that a lot of markings are cut-out shapes of current, existing bases [blue poinsettia], but I personally have a distaste for it.

I was also expecting a sea-themed base with white that looked like seafoam, not snow and ice.

@Ricky [Git gud lol] (#177615), I am aware you were not messaging me and respect your decision to not support, but would like to say a few things abt your message. A. this looks nothing like frostbitten! We have practically identical bases everywhere on this platform, and these two are not even that. B. You may have been expecting a sea-themed base, but seafoam is just the name of the eye color the suggestion was designed after. That is just what the original piece looks like! The name will also not be kept most likely, so It could easily be changed to something more fitting. C. 1 of the 3 bases are of Lucas|G1 Nebby|NocMrlc|69/C (#229229) own design, and this base is tweaked from the originals enough that it looks like it could've been made from scratch.

Additionally, I would like to state that I personally support the idea of this style of base making! It supports the population of players who aren't as confident in their art skills but still want to design bases, and I support that.

@geode I have to disagree about the frostbitten comment unfortunately. I dont know many bases on lioden despite being an older player, however as soon as I saw the base I thought of frostbitten minus the dark-coloured boots the base has. The back of the lioness is what frostbitten looks like, which is where my comment comes from.

And whether or not someone has the confidence in base creating, I don't personally find this technique of making them attractive. Sure, the base is gorgeous but I personally just dislike how it was made; and that's that! Thanks for being respectful about it nonetheless.

Also, the title of the thread is base: seafoam which is exactly why I expected a base centered around seafoam, so that's not on me personally considering it says nowhere on this thread about the eyes, nor does it state anywhere about the name being changed potentially in the future.

Ricky [Git gud lol] (#177615) Yes, the thread does not state anywhere that the name would be changed, but I would ASSUME that since there is already an eye color named seafoam, they would not also name a base seafoam, as that would lead to confusion. This is an assumption, I have no idea what mods would do.

I also discovered this thread through a message stating "Seafoam eyes as a base [link]" and I admittedly forgot that not everyone seeing this had the extra context.

The back of the seafoam base may be similar to the frostbitten base, but it's still not the same base. Players who hate the frostbitten base could adore this one, because they are different. That is what I believe matters abt a base.

I still stand by my opinion that non-artists should be able to design bases.

I do agree that non-artists should be able to design bases. I personally would not mind if it wasn't an obvious recolour if you get what I mean. I've poorly explained what I've meant which is on my end /gen

Also, there are eyes and bases that share the same name! Such as dawn eyes, markings, and base. it wouldn't be out of question to name a base after an eye colour considering

Just saw everyone's comments. I tend to make bases using existing bases as I feel that it would help the mods with making and tweaking them rather than guessing how to transfer the look to other Poses.

I should definitely mention somewhere that the base relates to the eye colour, such as dawn. Everyone has the right to their own opinions and I appreciate the comments! I may even make a separate thread completely for eye-bases and as a game/challenge rather than a suggestion for a new base
