-LOCKED - September Feedback
Posted on 2024-09-14 14:07:00
We've heard your feedback and we're sorry we dropped the ball here.

* Ochre Powder, along with all Treasure Hunting special use items, will be included in all iterations of the event.
* Each Treasure Hunting event will have themed decorations and backgrounds that will only appear in that version of the event (e.g. Drowned decorations will not appear in January, etc.).

A note on the September event encounters: we have had reports that there are fewer encounters showing up this year, and fewer Jewel Beetles being given out. We have investigated multiple times throughout the start of the month and have yet to find any evidence in the code that there is anything blocking the occurrence of event encounters. We are continuing to look into these reports, but so far have not experienced the issue ourselves through multiple tests.

It is important we clarify that Siren's Call was not introduced as an attempt to monetise a bug, as some have claimed, but that we wanted to offer some items to further customise the experience of explore by increasing the standard rates and decreasing rates of other encounters, such as beetle larvae.

While we appreciate the feedback of our players - both long-term and newer - please remember that we are a small team of developers, and we are human. We try our best to listen to you, sometimes we miss the mark and we will try to correct it where we can. We definitely do not intend to ignore you. Mistakes will be made, and we are sorry for that.

We would kindly ask that you try to temper any feedback you give - reading responses in ALL CAPS and with a scathing/spiteful tone can be disheartening at best. We generally are very open to making changes, but we need to keep a collaborative and constructive spirit.

To provide an update on promised features:
* Another mutation, the Primal variant based on the Ennedi Tiger, is on track to be released during Black Friday.
* Mutation decor conversions were pushed back due to prioritising other things, but are still in the works, and we hope to release them in early 2025.
* The Spirited pose is on track for a Winter 2024 release.
* The recode is currently delayed due to server shenanigans earlier in the year that are still somewhat ongoing.
* We're starting to work on the raffle lioness system changes that were mentioned in Community Update #238: implementing raffle studs and adding a confirmation system that will reroll the winner if the original winner doesn't claim her for 30 days.

It's both?! People have different experiences and different incomes. 20gb is never cheap, it's £8 out of your bank account. I'm just going to block you before I say something that might get me In trouble with staff

I never said my projects relied on it. I haven't been able to use it. I can't afford it I have a house to run!

I only came here to say thank you for listening to feedback, I don't want to be berated because I have bills and don't have mummy and daddy paying for my life. I like to get items from events instead wherever I can, I do buy GB but i can't always stretch to that. So, THANK YOU STAFF

Lolly i sympathise with your point and it makes sense; but throwing insults isn't the way to do it if you want people to listen to you. People who are able to grind or can afford 20GB from in-game hours and effort do not necessarily use 'mummy and daddy's money' and suggesting they do is really.. horrid. 20GB being £8 is a lot! it really is just for an online item, but we have to remember that lioden currency isn't reflective of IRL currency, it is just optional to be bought that way - which some users do, some users don't. If you can get even one single buffy in february you can make 20GBish later in the year; and with a lot of patience, like many of us as users have, you can flip it into 100GB easy. From there all you need to do is make sure you keep at least 25gb to keep flipping, and spend the other 75 however you desire!

Of course, that comment is not super on topic to he news post and I would like to personally move on from it. You are a 5-digit ID, presumably a full grown adult, and need to have a bit more respect even if you have been frustrated by what seems like consistent complaints of staff not listening - there are underlying issues with a lot of the news posts lately, one being that they release things without actually listening to previous poll answers, or they think 'hey, this is a cool idea - let's implement it!'.

I'll be honest, the different aspects to the same event in each different occurence is an awesome idea - the issue was not communicating this to us and leading users on with the assumption ochres would make a return. I did not personally mind if ochres did no return, it meant to be that they'd retain their 15GB value and I could spend the other two occurences of treasure hunting farming doubloons for January. There is always a work-around. I do not agree with the decision to bring back ochre powders, I personally feel like it's the staff giving into pressure and not taking the time to think - much like they have been doing recently. They're humans, they don't owe us anything; but we have a right to not be in the dark and have the opportunity to provide feedback when and where we can. I'm happy that ochres are back, but im also concerned as to how this'll affect their prices - with more, the prices would logically lower, but with the current state of the market I'll bet they'll somehow increase.

I understand your frustrations with those of us complaining, but insulting, degradation and just overall pettiness is not how we should be communications our thoughts and feelings - on either side of the scale. This is the problem our devs are having, and our mods, admins, and other kinds of staff are having with us as a community - we lack basic respect despite it being something core that we learn from the moment we are young; or at least I did. I'm not a saint, i've been an asshole but I take the time to re-read my replies and think whether or not this will get my message across, or whether or not it's going to make them not take me seriously and change their argument to 'well you were rude, so i don't like you and your opinion is invalid!'.

I can understand what you're saying. I do grind currency in events too. I spend a lot of time trying to make things work. Maybe I was a bit out of line with what I said. I mean I sell items too for a higher price than they were during the event when out of season. It's how this game works, I understand that. I still think 20gb is a lot for ochre powder lol but I get it. We may have to agree to disagree about ochre powder prices specifically, it is what it is though.

I'm sorry if I offended you, or anybody else, truly.
I am a full grown adult, so no it's not a good look.

@Infinightive You worded it a lot better than I could. Wanted to say something, but was a little paranoid that it would be taken wrong 😅

You didn't personally offend me, but i'm appreciative of you having such an open mind!
I don't really pay attention to the ochre prices, I mean i thought they were 300DB [as i said earlier within this forum] just to find out they're only 150 Doubloons was a bit disheartening and I sort of agree with those points now. 150 is a really low currency amount considering you can get 25 from just a single item, and I'm inclined to agree to a price adjustment just for that singular item - but we also have to consider that users will be getting around half of the amount for the item this time around, which means there will be less to sell; but I still find myself concerned with how having them available 3 times per year will affect their value. 15GB, which is what i saw them priced at when i sold them, isn't much and is more equal to that of a GoP I believe, an accurate price for an item that does so much, but also so little.

My thoughts are a little scrambled, but I hope they make sense.

Sorry to hear that people were rude.

I wonder if there's any chance of the harbinger story being changed to have a lower entry fee. Right now the price of large rocks means I likely won't be able to scrape together the materials he wants this year.

I'm sorry you've encountered negativity. I don't think you dropped any balls. I'm a newer player so I don't have context for lately year's September event but I've had a nice time and I am always impressed by all the updates you are constantly rolling out. Good job team! You are appreciated, even if people don't always take the time to say it.

This community can be so toxic sometimes. I’m sorry you (the admins) have to put up with so much backlash. Ridiculous behaviour for a 16+yr site.

It is certainly unfortunate. I feel like the issue of the lack of communication between us and the devs have increased as it seems like they can't quite get things right for everyone and disapproving users can be pretty vocal. I think we should all just be a bit more considerate moving forwards of what we are saying and who we are saying it to; they're not names on a screen, they are people behind it - but so are the users who are complaining. Treat each other with respect and have some more consideration for how they might feel behind the screen.

You've done excellent with the game thus far devs, but make sure to keep us informed when you can! We love hearing about updates and progress, even if it's only every few months that's dedicated to updates.

i’m seeing people say we should nerf ochre powders or double its cost— please don’t. there is absolutely no need. it’s available 10 days out of 3 planned events. that makes it a total of 30 days of availability. it is now like a regular breeding item that gets a month, except you can find it scarcely throughout the year. if anything, this is a genuine good feature that allows a breeding item to be accessible to a lot of the user base without the stress of planning for a single event once a year.

if what an ochre powder can do bothers you, please just don’t allow people to use them on your king or your lions. i don’t think an item should be nerfed to HALF ITS USE or DOUBLE ITS PRICE because it can *possibly* be used to copy lions by being used on two pre-existing copies of a lion….. not everyone is going to be doing that. some of us just don’t want to waste gnaws on non-rosette markings if ochre powders were genuinely that “over-powered” crunchies would be actively losing value, wouldn’t they? them things are still selling for like 40-50gb rn.

If you think of the treasure hunting event like this: it's split into 3 months of 10 days right? That makes 30 days total which sums up to your average month. it's like any other normal event where breeding items are a reasonable price. I don't see people complaining about the prices of buffies, yoh barks or other items in february until they're super high in other months? I really don't care what happens to ochre powders, an increase in price seems reasonable but it's not something I would prefer if it makes sense. I'd see why it would happen, I'd understand it and I'd support it as an alternative to nerfing their RNG rate, but I wouldn't necessarily like it. Just adding my two cents and agreeing with you there!
