What's the issue? Please include any error messages you receive and as much detail as possible.
in wardrobe, when I try to remove my currently selected background to go back to the default one, changing anything about the lion makes the background visually revert back to the one I had previously selected.

even though the background selector still says the default "Choose a background..", I have to click the X again to make the background displayed behind the lion go back to the default.

Any links relating to this bug? For example, if a particular lion is bugging, what is the link to that lion?

Please provide us with step by step explanation how this bug happened so we can attempt to replicate it. If it's complex, please include screenshots where possible:
1. in wardrobe, select any background
2. click the X to remove the background, resetting it to default
3. change anything about the lion (base, age, markings, decor, etc); the background visually reverts back despite the background selector displaying "Choose a background.."
