How is this possible? I'm trying to farm blood beetles by exploring in the level 1 biome thinking all my opponents would be easy. But I'm losing every 3rd battle or so. How are these level 1 event NPCs kicking my 2000+ statted, level 30 king???

In all honesty, I don't notice a huge difference in battle difficulty between zones. If an enemy is kicking my ass in one zone it'll kick my ass in every zone :')

For most opponents, I find "Charge > Rest (if damaged) > Charge/Pounce > Grab > Kick" works really well, but Pound is also good. Some angel and demon battles will totally shit on you if you Rest though, so peeking at the wiki isn't a bad idea until you are able to memorize which ones attack during Rest. Though I always end up forgetting once in a while anyway haha. Off the top of my head, Ariel (angel) and Ghaddar (demon) will attack, I believe, but there are probably more.

Ah yeah D: The ~logic~...

Generally I tell myself
The harder enemies will be hard in every biome- the lvl 1 explore zone Event enemies are not actually level 1, they're still powered higher & the moves you chose will greatly effect how the battle will go.
At least, that's how I justify it to myself.
Since there's "functionally no difference" between a 500 to a 2,500 stat (aside from producing higher-stat cubs & being in a different May arena of course!) in battles (Wiki Ref) it more depends on the specific enemies' preset difficulty more than your king's specific stats
Sometimes the day/time decides 'you suck today' & all your attacks miss or all the enemies' special powers land & you notice your HP bar just getting demolished on enemies you were annihilating the day before

I ~think~ the best place to explore is theoretically (your level - 1) as you get less of a reward debuff from a win but you're still slightly above the current enemy range, but that's for Non-Event enemies & I usually just stick to the zones with extra energy rewards anyway. I find that i'm better with the enemies there than trying to go to lvl1 for example but I can't see anything official on being extra debuffed other than the explore rewards being altered slightly from the quick glance i'm able to do atm

I have a pretty good rhythm for most enemies & can still lose due getting stunned or missing attacks due to bad rng D:

Hope it works out a little better for you! <3

Edit: I just tried the Charge~>Rest sequence on Ordog (flaily Pan dude) over on my 4.6k Stat Lvl 17 Main in Tropical zone and he absolutely demolished me, was stunned/still attacking or something- if you're Heaven-aligned probably do not do that with that enemy. X__X

HOw 'damaged' is damaged for rest?
I think I do Charge > Grab > Pound/Kick, or Claw (for shreddy enemies like mummy/winged Halloween night creatures) and only Rest if i'm getting really low (for Non-Stampeding enemies, so not on the Elephants or the 'big dragon' type October enemies as it will essentially 'lose' your turn as they continue) aaand the battle guides in forums as well as wiki can curate from there :D

If the bar isn't going down 'enough' on Pound I try either Kick/Claw/whatever isn't specifically 'no go' for that enemy, if my bar is going down too much I do Rest except for those where that's just going to lose you that 1 extra swipe to win a close battle...
If you can try to zone out on the HP bars & just catch the rhythm from the buttons as they change depending on which options are available to you, if I zone out on the buttons I don't win because I miss the vibe of the battle. xD It's weird typing this as I don't usually think about it so please double check for errors - it's a bit like claiming a lioness who doesn't want to be claimed, there's always that tricky programmed to lose one where you can do everything right & it just doesn't work that justifies occasionally using a Lucky Foot or an Auto-Claim
Might be overly explaining but even with memorizing or trying to vibe it can still go south, so I try not to take it too hard (even if it's a Wraith Lion ;~; )
Good luck!

Thank you for the tips! Maybe my battle strategy is wrong as well, I will try the charge>rest tactic (I was previously using the charge>grab>pound)

The Rest comes later in the sequence when you need it, I think? Edited my post at the bottom with an attempt- I'll try again but Charge > Grab > Pound is likely safer until you have the stun enemies memorized Might've just been an unlucky attempt!

Curious if there's some subtlety to the strategy i'm missing out on! :D

Not sure if I have the best advice, but I usually never rest in battles. I think I've only lost one a couple rollovers ago after wininnng like 50 in a row. What I find always works is Charge--> Spam Grab until I do--> Pound (unless the enemy has soft skin, then claw). The constant pound almost always ends up stunning them and from there it works. I do the same on my side, which is just over 300 stats now I think, and I rarely lose battles. Could be RNG luck, but I find resting useless during this event because the enemies just fight back.

Also something to point out - I’m not sure if this is speculated or confirmed. It’s just what I’ve heard through the grape vine

But the usefulness of stats drastically drops past 500. So essentially, someone with a 500 stat king would do nearly as well as someone with a 1,000 stat king. My main is at 500, my side at 2,300. And I haven’t noticed any dramatic changes between the two when fighting.

Stats and levels only *occasionally* mean something in this game, so it's all about strategy. Start looking up battling guides - even the ones that are a few years old tend to be useful
