do not reply to this guide please!! this is for my own reference when breeding my lions. i am aware that this guide is FAR from comprehensive of everything to be considered, but i'm relatively new in breeding for specific bases/markings/etc. so this is just the basics for me to remember!

base groups
--> red
--> black
--> golden
--> cream

every lioden base falls into one of these four base groups.
base color x base color = 100% chance of a cub from that group
base color x other base color = 50/50 of cubs from either group

shades
--> dark
--> medium
--> light

every base group can be divided into dark, medium and light shades.
dark x dark = dark
^^ same for light x light and medium x medium
light x medium = 50/50 either
dark x medium = 50/50 either
light x dark = 25% dark, 25% light, 50% medium

gradients

countershaded (more visible shades on the base coat)
solid (self explanatory)

countershaded x countershaded = countershaded
solid x countershaded = 50/50
solid x solid = solid
