Right now, the forum's categories look like this: If you are looking to buy art, where would you click? Obviously, Art Sales, duh. But did you know that the "Adoptables & Recolors" section has custom artists, too? The problem(s): YCH artists are being moved into the Adoptables & Recolors section and are not allowed in Art Sales, even though they also sell art. I asked the modbox why and got the following answer: "[...] We consider YCHs to be recolours of existing lineart, and recolours are defined as non-unique pieces that have minimal to moderate line changes to suit the buyers character. Custom art involves entirely redrawing each piece in unique poses and prompts, such as more complicated commissions. [...]" • "Art Sales" implies that it's the only place that sells art, which is misleading • The word "recolor" absolutely does not give artists the credit they deserve. It deserves to be called art. • "Recolor" is the second word in the categorie's name, making it basically invisible. • Art Shops being inconsistenly moved by the mod team from one category to another, making it even more confusing. Some YCH shops are moved, others won't and remain in "Art Sales" for weeks, months, years. • People looking for 100% custom art are flooded with YCH shops in "Art Sales" • People looking for YCH need to look through "Art Sales" and "Recolors" What is an YCH? What is an adoptable? My ideas for a solution: re-name the categories appropriately to clarify that they all sell art: Art Sales: Custom Art Art Sales: YCH Art Sales: Adoptables OR Allow YCH shops in "Art Sales". Re name the 2nd Category to "Adoptables" only. This will help both artists and customers to know where to sell and buy art. Please, let me know your thoughts! Even if you're not interested in Art, don't like YCH or simply just clicked on this out of boredom: Don't you think this little tiny change in the forums would help out? I am especially curious about artists and customers with art shops on lioden: What is your experience? Has your shop been moved? What do you think of this idea? |
