Hi there,

I desperately need some advice.

I am making a new heir and I would prefer something popular, that might get me some studdings. I always end up losing out on studdings and, even though I have built heirs that are nice to look at or have good mutations, they never seem to be popular. I would like to invest and get a return on my investment. My eventual goal is to get a pon of some kind, and making some cash back on studdings would help. I have no Sbs to my name and some Gbs (not too many) which I am willing to spend. Whoever gives me the most useful advice for building will get two refunded studdings to the new king, or to my side king (Cimmerian base, mane and markings, slender pie - https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=221550). If you are going to suggest something you have for sale, please disclose your bias - I will double check!

The way I see it, I have the below options:

1. Get something with a pretty, special base and markings (jellyfish, for example, or ice which has a few combos) and apply a less popular mutie-on-demand (I have piebald: ticked or overgrown fur). If you think this is the way I should go, what are the most popular bases at present?

2. Focus wholly on the base and markings and don't bother with a mutation. What are your suggestions?

3. Focus on purchasing a very rare or very popular mutation with my Gbs and apply a special base/mane combo from my stock. I have the following to build with:

Astral base and mane
Atlas base and mane
Augur base and mane
Blue Poinsettia base, mane and 1 x markings
Brimstone base, mane and 1 x markings
chatoyant base, mane and 1 x markings

ragdoll base and mane and 1 x markings
divine base and mane
Ethereal base and mane
Green base and mane
Frostbitten base and mane
Gregarious base and mane
Harvest moon base, mane and 2 x markings
Heavenly base and mane
Jacana base and mane and 1 x markings
Sacred base and mane
Shard base and mane and 1 x markings
Seer base and mane

Swarm base only
Ornament base only
Parhelion base only
Ubaste base only
Windfall base only
Wicked base only
Cretaceous base only
Medal base only
Spectre base only
Incense base only
Ankh base only
Haruspex base only

Deshret base only

Fuschia mane
Ammonite mane
Styx mane
Penumbra mane
Supernal mane
Harbinger mane
Moss agate mane
Merlot mane
Fossil mane

Markings:
Splendor
3 x random applicator
Pelt Heavy
Valiant
Royal
Ritual

Omen
A whole lot of blemish, brawl, grunge, rumble, lycaon, proteles, hyena, maracaja

Skin:
Doubloon
Growth
Lavender

Eyes:

Sign
Omen
Eldritch
Crepuscular

Other questions: how much do stats matter? how NB is it that the lion must be clean? What is the significance of the generation (i.e. 1 vs 2 vs 10)

Somebody please help. This is what I have currently. I loved the way he looked and thought he might be popular but so far not really:

Here's what I'd do: focus on the looks. You can always mut rep/stat rep later on. Id say find a decent cub you like and then you can change its base. Remember, you have to deal with most of his cubs, so try to keep in mind what you like. Right now, I have a cimmerian bomb queen, and even a lot of her fodders sell pretty well. I just got her because I came back from a hiatus and they had added cimmerian and I adored it, and she is my first queen in four years of playing to consistently sell studs + sell out repeatedly. From what I have noticed, there is high demand for BO, especially rlcs. You could buy a partial rlc and base change it and add some apps. Apps aren't all bad- my queen has a few app markings (interstellar, frostbitten) but she's doing pretty well. You just might have to spend more. The interstellar app I bought cost me I think 2 crunchies in september. There is a wiki with all the BO marks so if youre confused you can look at that-but keep in mind generally t2 is the main BO tier.

As for gens, gen 1 is a lion with no heritage. No parents. An NCL, a rolled king. G2 is that lion's cubs. When counting gen, you count including the lion your checking. For example, my queen is g2. If she has a cub with a NCL (remember, g1) that cub is g3. You count the longest lineage.

Lmk if you have any questions!

Velli, I decided on a king and sucked it up and went with it. But thank you SO much for your input, you're the only person who decided to help and my sideking is going to retire soon, then I can take your word for it. He's also a cimmerian bomb and it was a good decision on my part. Still not quite right though - I never sell out and offspring is slow to go.

Thank you so much, so I am looking for a good base with BO markings.

For my main account, I went with a mottled piebald Khnum with the following markings. Aesthetic is white and blue with crepuscular eyes. Mane is white.

Slot 1: Glass Pelt Heavy (100%) Tier 3
Slot 4: Arctic Icefall (37%) Tier 3
Slot 5: Cimmerian Brindle (53%) Tier 1
Slot 6: Stratosphere Splendor (70%) Tier 3
Slot 7: Briar Freckles 1 (60%) Tier 2
Slot 10: White Mottled Vents (40%) Tier 6
Slot 11: White Socks (54%) Tier 1

Yeah no problem! He's pretty! I'd see about getting your hands on some apps, december and january have some nice ones, as well as trying to change all opacities to 100. January has white mottled fissures which is suppperrr underrated and goes good with anything (imo!). Id stay away from brawl/rumble/lycaon/hyena markings though, those arent very popular-if you like them no problem but strictly from a "what will sell more: standpoint, theyre not very good. Khnum is a wonderful and decently popular base, but I will say, with December, idk if you know about the event or the albino cub challenge, but getting an Albino or one of the snowflake factor bases (all available in december, though you may have to wait towards the end of the month so it might be better to get an albino app if you dont wanna buy an expensive one from a player, and youll be almost guaranteed to sell most if not all your slots
