Well…I said I had an agenda to turn lions into birds after Cretaceous and Grackle, and here I am so…you get the dinosaur bird.

Introducing QUAIL BASE!

Quail is an uncommon cream solid light base that can be bred using factors Finch + Fossil x Cream Lighter + Light Cream and is based primarily off of the male plumage of the California Quail Callipepla californica

It is tied to Quail skin

I made Quail base solely because of my aforementioned Bird Agenda, but also because we are sorely lacking cream light solid bases and uncommon bases in general. I did also kind of rush it (no time. Ever.) so suggestions to improve or making different versions are welcome! I’m thinking about simplifying the colors down more as well, and removing the facial markings or extending the silver back down the tail.

I played around with the idea of a base that follows sexual dimorphism, or making two bases so a “male only” and “female only” version, but I thought that would be too difficult to implement, so I took things from both the male and female and combined them. I am ALSO Also toying around with the idea of a Quail Scales marking, but the geometry on those things is wild. And I have dozens of photos I’ve taken myself to study!

I’m pretty happy with this though and I hope others like it! I have some other base ideas in the works that I think will be much more popular, including CALLIOPE and CARDINAL so keep an eye out for those!
