The reflections series
The corruption of an Elderflower
Life and death
Ismay was born around 200-300 years ago, she had a relatively normal life with a loving mother and father. Ever since she was little she always had an interest in healing and herbs. Ever since she helped treat her mother’s cough. As Ismay grew older and older she studied medicine and different remedies for ailments, always seeking to improve her performance. However, as Ismay continued to work, a small thought of doubt crept into her mind. She wondered if she was truly the right lioness for her position. No matter how much cures she learned, no matter how many herbs she collected, she always lost a patient. These thoughts slowly began to take a toll on her mental health and caused her to focus on one thing and one thing only.
Saving them all, no matter the cost.
Ismay hit her breaking point when her beloved too fell ill. No matter how much time she spent treating him, no matter how many herbs she gave him, his condition kept getting worse and worse. Ismay, panicked and frenzied, decided to make a foolish decision.
She had heard legends of a demonic spirit named Buer, a master of all kinds of medicine.
Ismay had made up her mind, she was going to seek out Buer.
Ismay traveled far and wide, seeking out the master of medicine.
Eventually she found them, in an herbal oasis with all sorts of plants that even she did not recognize.
The two struck a deal together and Ismay was able to heal any ailment no matter how serious.
But it came at the expense of herself
For every injury and sickness she healed, she shortened her own lifespan. She couldn’t find it in herself to care however, she had gotten everything she wanted.
The ability to heal all.
Ismay continued on her work despite her body rapidly failing on her
Her final act of kindness was perishing near a patch of truffles, so that her corpse may be used to feed the plants.

Afterlife
When Ismay awoke, she didn’t find herself where she expected.
She wasn’t in the realm of the dead, instead, she was in the very same cave where she perished.
Her desire to stay and help others was so powerful that it prevented her from passing on normally. Instead she was forever to wander the plains, seeking out a vessel to continue her work.
Centuries passed and Ismay was still endlessly wandering, her paws creating sprouts of herbs wherever she walked.
A lone lioness had wandered into her resting place, oblivious to the spiritual energy lingering around the place. She smiled, finally she had found a worthy vessel for her to continue her work.
Despite the lioness’s protest, she took over her body, laughing as felt the ground beneath her paws for the first time.
Ismay had found the perfect body and now it was time to continue her practice, accompanied by the spirit of the lioness whom she possessed.
They say the spirits of all the lions who Ismay possessed follow her endlessly, demanding, begging, and pleading for their bodies back.
And it is said that Ismay is still out there, looking for a new body to continue her work…
