I started an auction a few days ago, and I'm having a really hard time getting it going at a pace that makes it feel worth while.

+I'm trying to make sure I start bids extremely cheap, around the prices I'd place these lions on the trading center or less. Some bids start as 30sb for reference.

+I've got mixture of lions I find particularly beautiful despite their low overall value as well as more valuable lions (a combo and a mutie)

+I've been advertising it in the sales chat and bumping it multiple times daily.

I see other auctions popping off that I'm sure have the privilege of being older and more established, which is fair, but they're selling lions with the same marking tiers/base rarities as mine but at a much higher starting bid and extremely consistently for that matter. It just confuses me if it's truly just a matter of them having existed for longer that gives them that opportunity or whether I'm genuinely missing out on something I should be doing here.

Is the market just over saturated? Is it worth starting an auction rn? Or am I doing something wrong? I wouldn't be upset if it was some fault of my own or even just not a worthwhile market to break into at this point in time, but I'm just wondering if it's a project worth pushing through this early slow stage or just an effort I should drop for the time being in favor of finding another way to make some money.

Thank you for any input anyone has! It's much appreciated if you took the time out to read and reply to my queries, or offer any advice :)

IMO ; It's a mix of the lions being generally not that desirable (Applicator markings aren't in demand), but also, the lions having long generations. Players generally don't want fodder breeding stock if it's multiple generations, even if it's clean. You'd be better off having a G1 stud with mediocre stats instead of a G4+ with decent ones.

If someone really wanted a common / uncommon , or just any applicable cheap base, they'd just purchase a G2 cub with a lot of breed-only markings for a handful of and base change it themselves.

The overall market isn't and has never been the greatest for selling lions. I personally primarily make money on-site through being a successful artist and character designer, but i know that is rather saturated as well.

If you really want currency, farm food and nesting materials. 100x Uses of medium - large food for 1 , and 100x of nesting material can go for 5 . whack-a-snake decors are quite valuable and some are in decent demand, so that can be used as passive income.

Thank you!!! I appreciate the input a lot, I had a feeling it was the applicator marks, though I have seen them sell well in some auctions but I think many of those have time on their side. I'm trying to take a chance by selling some of my more valuable lions (such as a jelly base) in the auction and see how that does. I don't currently have time to sell food with how much I use to feed my pride, though I'll probably resort back to that in a few months when I'm free from college. I've done commissions for a bit and gotten a good deal of GB from it, rn I'm just working on gaining sb (Hopefully without using the gb sales at the oasis, though I might resort to that if I get desperate lol)

No worries ! I say this as someone who primarily breeds mottled, which is all the hybrid markings onto a single lion(s).

I will say that if you want to be profitable, you should re-consider your king. Being profitable at all and having applicator markings in this market just doesn't work. I also saw that you have a G3 Ferus Heir, but do consider that after Black Friday a large influx of G2 Ferus's will be on the market and as studs, alongside the new primal variant that's going to release, which will likely tank the interest in other Primals.

I know but I'm just sooooo not into most tier 2 marks. I've been considering it for a while and I am working on a bo trait king for my side but,,, wahh idk. I like colorbombs y'know? Hoping they work more diverse BO marks into the game to make it more feasible bc rn it's mostly just the July marks and those aren't the most variable yet. I don't really want to play the game purely for profit, I want to make things I like overall and I'm willing to sacrifice for that.

As far as choosing a ferus, I'm not sure what other mutation would be more profitable if I can be honest! I could go back to patches and pies like I used to use for some past kings, but I don't think they'd work with the look I'm going for (i've never been a big fan of either, honestly). And for the new primals, I'm not banking on being able to get one of them right ahead (assuming they pass at a higher rate from breeding to them + they're not the legendary female only primal people have been talking about), I don't have the energy or time to fight for one while they're hot. Ferus' seem like the best option even if they're fairly popular just for the reasons they are- Their primal variant actually passes at a higher rate with them.

But thank you! I appreciate the advice nonetheless.

If i'm being honest, Ferus generally isnt that popular. It is the most expensive of the mutations, however most players will avoid it due to the longer generations.

I do understand the need for not wanting to play the game solely for profit, but its just a difficult balancing act. I'd really recommend looking into July NRLCs if you like colorbombs, as most of those would be colorbombs with a lot of breed-only traits for cheap, due to being fails.

I do think you could make a pretty colorbomb, it'd just take a bit of tinkering and knowing what colors you want ! I popped into TC and made one of the cheapest NRLCs into a example gold, orange, seal and red colorbomb

That's a really nice design but I'm moreso looking for unnatural hues! I know we have stuff such as jellyfish, prismatic, etc- not to mention a variety of greens, but I just want to see the game expand on it's palette in BO marks before I indulge in it too deeply.

Applicator marks just fulfill my needs much better ATM, for better or worse. I'm also not a big RLC person in general, though I've considered indulging them in the future if I ever have more time to look into more heavy duty breeding projects. Still, I really like personally designing my kings to the best of my ability so they feel fully mine, so if I was to look into a BO king it would be a large breeding project of it's own, one I'm not currently equipped to indulge in. I don't think I'd get any satisfaction out of kinging a nrlc or the cubs that would give me, even if they're considered more valuable.

I am interested in alternative mutations though, I could stand to switch it up to something better if you have any suggestions for more profitable ones!

Mutations aren't really profitable either ! I breed hybrids, primarily Jaglions, and i don't even do it for the mutation, but rather to breed the markings.

Most of the modern market is markings and generations, with your current plans i'd recommend looking into re-opening your art commissions to fund your personal projects !
