Zeus rose his head briefly in between grazing, looking to the sky he saw that the sun was almost at its highest peek. The herd should be heading out soon, He thought casting glances to the horses in his herd. Lifting his head high into the air he let out a loud whinny, calling the herd to his side. He wanted to take them down to lake valley soon, to meet up with the other herds and share news of the past months.

Jade trotted through the field, her tail held fairly high, she had just won a race against a hawk she had seen in the woods. She had chased, and caught up to, the bird triumphantly and was quite proud. She reached the rest of her herd and whinnied a friendly greeting. She slowed her pace to a stop and began to graze on the snow-kissed grass, Winter was ending and the snow was beginning to melt. It left the ground soggy, and some-what wet. She found a juicy patch of short grass and gazed on it while she replayed the race against the hawk back in her mind again.

Ace shook his mane free of dew and lifted his gaze to the horizon, to see if there were any horses he could maybe share some news with, or just have a friendly chat. Seeing that there was no one in sight he figured he best be continuing on his never-ending journey. He stepped out on to the top of a woodland overlook, a sort of cliff. He looked down upon the tops of the trees before he turned around and walked on the rocky side of the mountain, the mountains weren't that steep, they were more slope-like and calming.

As ace walked he could hear the soft thuds of his hoofs on the ground. The earth below him began to slope down into a small valley, and Ace could see a glittering steam flowing near the center. Breaking into a slow canter, he lopped down the valley side and to the stream, a drink would be much appreciated by him right now.

Delilah lopped along side a beautiful river, she had been told earlier that they would be making a quick travel to the lake valley for the herd gathering. She had taken a walk to the riverside, but was now on her way back. She didn't want to miss the announcement when Quillon gathered the scouts for the walk to the meeting place. As she cantered she cod feel the wind on her sides and her mane flow in the wind. The river beside her seemed to fly by as she made her way back to the herd.

The mare picked her way across a tiny stream, headed for the patch of wild raspberries there. Not many horses liked to be this far from the plains and open trails, but to the older draft it was worth the effort. And besides, the berries only grew two or three months a year anyway, so if she wasn't in the area, she missed the sweets.

She trotted through the grass calling out for the mother she was sure she wouldn't see again. Her high pitched cries barely audible for horse standards due to the young horse's exhaustion. The past few days were a flurry of confusion and uncertainty. So she continued on, searching for any other horse. It wasn't long before she decided to rest her long legs. She slowly scanned her perimeter, hoping to not see any predators hoping for an easy meal. Satisfied that no one was around, she lowered her body to the ground, her head still high and alert. In one last attempt for a reply, she took a deep breath and let out the loudest neigh her tired body could muster.

The sorrel youngster sniffed the grass warily. A movement nearby had startled him and with seemingly no one around, he allowed himself to be a bit unsure and to investigate with unsurity. From a small burrow, a prairie dog bolted out and into another nearby tunnel, startling the colt and causing him to strike out toward the second burrow. Though he knew he would miss, perhaps this would teach the stupid ground animal to stay where it belongs. He sighed and shook his head. How pathetic must he have looked just now.

The proud grulla mare slowly walked up to one of her herd members. It was almost time for the meeting of the herds and with the amount of freedom she allowed the members of her large "family", they were often scattered about. She nickered at Andeo as she stopped a few feet away from the stallion. "Hello, Andeo. Would you mind accompanying me as I gather up the herd?" She swished her two toned tail as she watched dhim through soft brown eyes. Her ear flicked to the side as a small chipmunk headed away from the pair. She spared it a glance as she waited for the male's reply.

(I play Lioden through my smart phone so sometimes it my autocorrect names and some uncommon words. It might also screw it up in a really weird way by adding spaces between words. I try to catch them but please forgive me if I miss one. )

As she stands and stretches her long legs, she sees her herd off in the distance and decides that going in that direction would be a good idea, but as she is walking she can't resist a bit of grass to much on before rejoining her herd.

Alexander | Stallion | Leader of The Warriors Herd| Making daily patrols, before returning, only to spy Jasper.

The great stallion, Alexander, did his very best to keep his small herd secure. He would not haven overtaken it, if he didn't mean to keep it safe. It was very much worth protecting. It was his family, and his legacy, and the hulking brute would do well to maintain control of it, and keep them all thriving. One of the many tasks, demanded of him was to survey the surroundings. It was a small price to pay, and Alexander was happy to accept it. Leaving the grand task of keeping the mares safe, to the appointed lead mare, Nyx. Her strength and confidence was what a leader needed, and so the pecking order was established, after the stallion's assuming the mantle, and Nyx came out on top.

Heavy hooves would collide with the newly, uncovered grass, in dull, crunching thuds. He moved with a slow, but proud gait, as he lay his gaze outward upon the land. Nothing seemed out of order. With each passing minute, he grew more and more sure that his herd and himself were safe, and nothing would be making an unwanted appearance. He would nicker, voicing his pleasure with this realization, along with a toss of his monochromatic hued head, mane sent to flying atop, his thick neck. Alexander loved it when things worked like this! How it did fill him with delight, to witness firsthand, that he would not have to fend off a predator, or an enemy stallion. However, on the other hand, he did loathe it. It was boring, without conflict....but also great. Such an odd clash of emotions. Alexander would not be mistaken, he loved to fight, why he led a herd so titled as 'The Warriors'. How could one not see what it's leader was, liked to do, with a name like that! He just did not like it to well, fighting off enemies, what have come to take his mare's away from him! Those precious few ladies, and his spawn as well, needed to not have to deal with such threats. And he hated the thought of them ever having to! Though, he would be ready should those days come... He was always ready.

Patrols would be wrapped up, and the mighty warrior horse, would set his path to return home. Alexander wondered how they would all take to learning that they wouldn't have any trouble. He figured they'd be happy! The sight of the ever increasing amount of green, would bring new thoughts to his mind. Spring was fast approaching, and the Gathering was too. Yes! Quite an eventful time this was to be! He was to take his herd to the meeting place, to meet with the other herds in the area. Alexander loved when this event came around! It was a chance to show himself off to the other mare's in those herds! Plus, he got to hang with the other stallions! Those select few written off as 'Not Threats', he could get along with. Regardless of the fact, that he actively tried to woo away their women, he thought them pals of his, so to speak. Whether or not that saw it the same way, was yet to be seen. Not that he cared anyway! They hadn't thrown him out yet! Hahaha! Oh, just thinking about it was making his antsy to get the journey started! Maybe he would speak to Nyx and the others about doing just that!

Occupied with thoughts, the grey draft would eventually make it to where his herd was located, a bounce in his already confident gait. Only, a curious sight caught the giant's attention. It was the colt, Jasper, attacking the ground. How silly the sorrel lad did look, striking the ground in anger. Tall brush, situated in the king's line of sight, would prevent him from seeing the prairie dog scampering to another burrow close by. So the reason for the colt's outburst was unknown, though he figured it was a small critter startling the poor boy.

"Jasper, my boy!" Alexander called after the younger horse, trotting slowly over to him, to stand next to him and eyeball the ground in a curious manner, just looking for what had startled him. He only saw the burrows though, couldn't guess it was a prairie dog from just a burrow! It could have been a snake, for all the dappled grey knew! "Whatcha doin', son, striking the ground like that? Did you spot a snake?" The stallion would ask, looking over to Jasper, his tone of voice, and expression suggested that he was fooling with the kid. However, there was a very real concern for snakes, the venomous ones. He'd seen plenty of animals succumb to a bite from a snake. He didn't want them lurking around his herd.

She swished her tail, swatting away the pesky flies that continuously landed on her lower leg. An ear flick dislodged the fly that had then traveled to her ear. The grulla mare looked around before replying, "To be completely honest, I'm not sure." She turned and smelled the breeze of air that began blowing recently. She could smell many scents and some of which were of her herd. She smiled back at the pinto stallion and then began to trot in that direction. "I suppose we could search over here." She stopped mid stride, looked back at the stallion again asking "Unless you could catch one of their scents. " She straightened out her stance and waited for the male's reply.

Jasper was once again startled by the larger male, the leader of his herd. He turned slowly towards the draft male as he tried to regain his composure. "Hello, Alexander." He spoke proudly as if with a new sense of confidence even though he hated to think that the stallion had noticed his jumpiness. When the grey asked what he was doing, he quickly battled in his mind if he should make something up or simply say he was startled by a groundhog. He decided quickly and then hesitantly spoke. "I was simply surveying our herd's lands when I saw movement slightly behind me. However, I was simply startled by a prairie dog which I then tried to stomp." He looked away momentarily before straightening up.

Quillon stood atop a small hill, keeping an eye out for any dangers to his herd. The Scouts Herd had started out quite small, but their numbers were growing. They seemed to be about the size of the Royal's Herd at the moment, which made Quillon quite proud of the Herd. 'We may not be as respected as the Royal's Herd, but we're definitely faster than them.' He thought with a chuckle. Seeing that they'd have to head off to meet with the other herds soon, he raised his head, about to call for the herd to gather. Suddenly, an unfamiliar scent reached his nose, and he stopped, lowering his head and looking around. He finally spotted a mare not too far off, and he galloped towards her, coming to an abrupt stop a few meters away from her. "Who are you and what is your business here?" He asked in a commanding, but not too harsh tone. If this mare wanted to join his herd, he certainly didn't want to scare her off.

Cyrus trotted at a fast pace, knowing he'd have to hurry up. Quillon would be gathering the herd to head to the valley any time now, and he didn't want to be late. He knew of a nearby stream, where some herbs grew, and he was hoping to pick some before he had to go to the meeting at the valley. The meetings seemed pointless to him, since he was quite an antisocial stallion, and he never ended up talking to anyone. When he finally arrived at the stream he let out a breath of relief. He'd probably make it back just in time, as long as he didn't waste any time. He quickly found the patch of herbs, and he dipped his head, carefully picking the strong-smelling plants. He had to make sure not to damage any of them, herbs were precious plants, and it would be shame if he ruined them.

Amaryllis stood off at a distance, watching the herd while muttering a few things under her breath, too soft to be heard by any other horses. Hearing Zeus call for the herd to gather, she sighed and trotted over to him, pricking up her ears and pretending to look happy. She didn't really like talking with the horses of other herds, since she wasn't very familiar with them. They were also very annoying at times; but, it was a tradition that the herds had kept over many generations, and Amaryllis respected it. "Hello, Zeus." She greeted the Lead Stallion in a calm voice, dipping her head politely before stepping back, allowing him to speak to Renegade. She knew better than to interrupt a conversation between a Leader and his Second-In-Command.

Falyn yawned softly, blinking her eyes several times, attempting to wake up. She shook her white mane, letting it flow in the breeze, and tossed her head, feeling the cold moisture in the air collecting on her skin. She could see many members of her herd beginning to wake up as well, getting ready to leave. She trotted towards Zeus, noticing his second-in-command speaking with him.

She strode over on her long legs, her tail swaying freely, displaying her usual carefree demeanor. She smiled at Renegade, dipping her head, and mimiced the gesture to greet Amaryllis as well. She looked up at Zeus, regarding him with respectful, friendly eyes. She hoped he didn't see the affection hidden in them, but as a precaution, she lowered her head and faced the ground for a few moments before gathering her thoughts and lifted her head to face him again. "Good morning. How was your night? Well enough, I trust?"

Falyn smiled softly and turned her head up, noticing flakes of snow had started to fall. Late winter was always the worst time for her, as it was hard to stay warm, but she was alright with the snow. "Alright, I suppose. A bit chilly today, but I suppose I'll get used to it." She chuckled and ruffled her mane, feeling the flakes catching on her skin. She looked up again before turning back to Zeus, telling him with a laugh, "At least I'll blend in!"
