Enduring a rough cubhood, Onyx always kept her head up, and her eyes on the sky. She was chased away from her birth pride right after learning to walk and barely escaped with her life. She spent her cubhood alone, feeding on any small critter that had the misfortune to stray into her paws, and drinking water from puddles after rainstorms. She always traveled towards the sun, knowing one day it would lead her to a place she could finally call home. In her early adolescence, she got what she had always hoped for. She stumbled her way towards a big tree one quiet evening, and in the clearing around it, spotted Aiken, an adolescent himself at the time, however already ruling his own pride. He took a liking to her immediately.
"your pelt shines with the light of the sun," he told her as he saw her, commenting on the sun-bleached hairs on the top of her pelt.
Since that day she has faithfully held her spot in Aiken's pride. Taking to frequent sunbathing by the winding creek near their little camp. Still, Akien calls her his sunbeam and gifts her with items that he says hold the same glow she does. Her sunbleached pelt turned golden blonde as she aged, never again healing to its original midnight black. A small reminder of her fierce determination through cubhood, and all the hardships she's trudged through.
