It turned out he was trying to use her to infiltrate the clan. She doesn't want to believe that all outsiders are as bad as Cinder like her old clan thinks. She's on a mission to prove them wrong. She came upon a pride that was flourishing throughout this drought. She couldn't believe how many travelers were there besides her. During her stays he found out how the pride was able to flourish even with so many mouths to feed. She was taught how they only hunted what they needed, shared water sources and some food with the other animals. Even the hyenas. She learned how they never turned away another lion especially if that lion was in need. She was elated to learn that she was right, and her clan was wrong. There were good lions out there and this pride was proof of it. While with the pridelanders she grew fond of the king and ended up having a cub. She knew she couldn't bring this cub along and when she was able to wean the cub she would be off again. Tundra reassured her she would be safe. During her stay a few animals decided to join her on her journey. Tundra explained how the stick insect would bring luck, the raven would ward off evil, and the rat would help find food. As she was leaving one of the adolescents she had gotten along with brought her a gurnsey lily to take with on her travels. "So you don't forget me." The young gal said. Brightfoot chuckled softly. "Don't worry, I would never be able to forget you Snake."
