Stories
Kai'Alani was born in the jungle, her mother licked her clean as the animals gathered to take in the new birth in the jungle. The mother smiled down at her cub as she looked at the animals gathered. They all looked at the cub with small curious eyes. The mother spoke to the little cub. ``Aren't you the cutest little thing? I'll name you Kai'Alani. I promise to teach you all that I know. You will be one of the best lionesses in this jungle. You rest up little one, you have a big future ahead of you. `` The spirits would gather as well, but no one could see or hear them besides her mother. The spirits whispered "This lioness has a bright future; we promise to protect her from danger and guide her to the right path not letting her fall into evils ways."
-------------------------
The little cub would wake up the next morning and began her day. She was playing with other cubs her age. She and her friend were having a lot of fun. She was giggling and smiling, her friend was doing the same. They were out of breath due to playing so hard. Sadly, the mother of the cub said "It's time for breakfast! Come here baby!" The little cub said goodbye to his friend before trotting off to his mother call. Kai continued to play to play herself, she was chasing a butterfly. ``ARGH! Get back here you! It's not nice to run away from friends! `` She said, pouting. The butterfly soon got out of her reach, and she sat down with a frown. Her mother soon came up to her, speaking with her. ``Why the sad face Lolly? The butterfly again? I told you Lolly, they don't let you catch them! Anyways Lolly, are you hungry? All the other cubs are eating. Why don't we got have a meal together? `` She looked down at her cub, smiling and purring at her. Kai shook her head agreeing. Her mother picked her up softly, carrying her to the nursery. Kai noticed her mother limping and walking slowly. Her mother smelled older than the other mothers. Her thought was soon distracted by warm milk from her mama. Her warm belly made her purr, she licked her mamas face. Her mama smiled and sighed slightly. She knew in the blink of her eye; her baby would be all grownup! The mother got up and left her cub who was sound asleep. The mother had to go on a hunting patrol for the animals of the jungle. This would soon be Kai'Alani's responsibility.
-------------------------
Time had finally passed; Kai was of age to start learning the way of a lioness. Her mother woke her up excited. ``Lolly, Lolly!! Its time! Get up! We must train while it's still light! `` Kai woke up startled but listened to her mother. She got up and followed her mother to start training. She looked at her mother, waiting for instructions. ``First things first is, stalking your prey! You must be very quiet and patient if you want to catch you prey. `` The mother spoke. She began to crouch and show how to sneak. Kai understood her mother but was worried for her. Her mother began to cough and shake hard. ``Mama? Are you okay? Maybe we should practice another day.`` Kai said. Her mom stopped coughing and looked at her, replying. ``Oh Lolly, I'm fine, just a little cough. Let's head back home though, the weather has gotten bad. You shouldn't be out when it's like this. `` Kai nodded and the two returned home. Her mama went to lay down, and she continued her training with another mother. The mother went to the herbalist, to get checked out. He said she would be fine. The mother for the continuing week would be very tired, not wanting to do anything. She also was very weak. Her cub would return home one day to see her cold and stiff. ``MAMA! MAMA! MAMA! Wake up!!`` She would cry out, but the herbalist had said she has passed. Kai stormed out of the den crying; she promised on that night that she will never forget her mother. She will be the best lioness she can be for her mother. ``I will live up to my mother's legacy! I will be the best! `` She yelled into the sky's before returning home with a serious look on her face.
-------------------------
It had been 2 years since her mother had passed. She was full grown by now. She was more mature and now the ruler of the jungle. She was following her mother's footsteps in more than one way. She was adventurous and passionate, just like her mother. She had also been getting visons and messages from the spirits. She would understand that this was her destiny as her mother told her before. She was a great hunter; she would hardly be stuck without a meal. The animals bowed down to her, because most were afraid of her power. She enjoyed her life, but she would want more. She would go out a lot and search the jungle for something new. The spirits would whisper to her saying "There's something or someone in the jungle that you must find. It's something you must find, for its your future. My sweet Lolly." The message would set her back a bit. She had gotten to message in a late night before bed. Only her mother called her that name, she would start to wonder who the spirits really were.
-------------------------
Her curiosity would lead her to want to reach out to the spirits. She wasn't sure how to do so as they reached out to her always. She would sit down and try to gather information on how to do so. It took her a few days to gather the information. She would speak with an elder, who has been around longer than her and knows much more. She walked up to her and sat down. ``Ms. Sage? May I speak with you? `` Kai said. Sage looked at her and smiled. "Why of course dear. What's on your mind today?" Ms. Sage said. Kai would always go to Ms. Sage when she needed help or some of her wisdom. ``Actually, Ms. Sage. It's kind of an important matter today. |Kai looked at the ground, with heavy worried eyes. | I was wondering if you know how to reach out to the spirits. You see a spirit a few days ago called me a name only my mother knew. It really made me wonder who the spirits really were. `` Ms. Sage picked up Kai's head to comfort her, kissing her head. "Don't drop your head dear, you don't want to appear weak. It's about time you started to ask this question. You see, I know who the spirits are, but you must find out yourself. I know exactly how to reach out to them. I will teach you exactly what you need to know, dear. Come on!" Ms. Sage got up before kai could reply. She led her to a meadow with beautiful flowers and a warm sun. Kai could fell the sun on her back, she felt at peace. She would also notice a small creek next to them, not too far away. Ms. Sage set on the log and looked at the skies before them. She continued her speech, but not before making sure Kai was listening. "Kai'Alani. This is an important lesson. |She turned and looked at kai. | If you wish to speak with the spirits, you must clear your mind. Once you do that, you must gather a rock, a leaf, and a bowl and a lion's skull and 1 white feather. In the bowl, you must place the leaf with the rock on top. Then place a lion's skull on this very log that we sit on. You must then place a white feather, on fire, inside the lion's skull. You must take a drink from this creek next to us at the beginning and ending of the ritual. You must do this with no one around. Once you do this, you must chant these words. |She paused for a moment, then continued. | I am Kai'Alani, I wish to speak with the spirits. I call out to you; I bring you here. If you say this, the spirits will come, Kai. You will learn what you wish too." Kai looked at Ms. Sage confused. ``This will work Ms. Sage? Do you promise? `` Ms. Sage frowned and replied. " Do not doubt me, Kai! I do not lie about something so serious. The spirits are nothing to mess around with. You must treat them with respect. Come now, let's return home. Don't forget what I've taught you." The two returned to the pride, saying goodbye to each other. Kai would return to her den to think about what she had learned.
-------------------------
It had been a few days since she had spoken with Ms. Sage. She believed her and hoped the ritual would work. She waited all day for the night, she waited impatiently. People would say she was very in her head and uptight the whole day. When night finally came, she wasted no time heading to the meadow. She took a drink of the creek water, before starting the ritual. She sighed relaxed and began the ritual. She would clear her mind of all her worries and thoughts. She placed the items she had brought on the ground besides her. She would take out the paint she had brought and began to draw a circle with a cross on it on her forehead. She also drew blue lines on her body swiftly. This was known as a way to respect the spirits. She took a moment to take in her surroundings. The air was cool, the birds were deathly quiet. The ground was cold beneath her paws. There was a weird angelic whistle flowing in her ears. Her fur felt smooth and warm against her body. She placed the bowl down before her. She placed the leaf down in the bowl, crushing it with the rock. She placed the lion's skull on the log beside her. She would smash two rocks together to create a fire. She took the feather in her paws and placed it in the fire. She then placed the feather inside the skull. The fire-lit feather would almost glow in the skull, making her feel at peace again. The skull would have smoke coming out of its nostrils and mouth, along with the eyes. She inhaled the fumes of the fire, she then chanted. ``I am Kai'Alani, I wish to speak with the spirits. I call out to you; I bring you here. `` Then suddenly the skulls fire went out, the wind got hard and cold. Kai'Alani could faintly hear her mother's voice, not able to make out any words. She could also see blue orbs in the air. She stepped back in fear, she was shocked that it had worked. She took a moment to regain herself. She would take a sharp breath before speaking. ``I have reached out to you for a reason. |She bowed down respectfully, and the orbs became clear. The blue orbs were her ancestors, she could see her mother and many others. She stood up. | I wish to know the truth. I wish to know who the spirits are and why I'm the chosen one to see them. `` The spirits would clear out and only her mother would be present now. Kai'Alani would give the spirit enough energy to speak to her by chanting. The spirit, her mother spoke in a soft whisper. "Lolly. I'm glad to hear from you child. I knew you would understand. I knew you would get curious. I can only tell you a little of what you wish to hear, child. You were chosen to be a voice for the spirits, due to being brave. Not only that, my Lolly. It's a family trait. As you may have noticed, the spirits are your ancestors. I hope this helped, my Lolly. I must go, I'll be around as will all your ancestors. I love you, Lolly." The ancestor orbs would disappear slowly as kai took a drink from the creek. She would return home, carrying all her items. As well as the paint still being on her. Ms. Sage would see her returning to her bed, nodding at her. She understood that Kai has seen the truth. Kai smiled back as she laid down. She was heavy in thought. She was thinking about what she learned tonight. She felt wholesome, knowing the truth. Knowing that her mother was still protecting her. She fell asleep. Her mother's spirit was around her hugging her.
-------------------------
Almost a year later, after she learned about the spirits. Kai'Alani would have grown up a little more. Ms. Sage had sadly passed away. This made Kai'Alani feel an overwhelming sadness. It was the same feeling she felt when her mother passed. The spirits could feel this sorrow and tried to distract her whilst still keeping her on the right path in life. The spirits would repeat a message late one night, the message was "There's something or someone in the jungle that you must find. It's something you must find, for its your future.". Kai'Alani would begin to go out in the jungle more, searching for this thing. She really loved the jungle. She always had. She loved how the jungle was so relaxing. The smell of the trees in the wind. The smell of the animals in the jungle. She also really loved spiders of the jungle. Going into the jungle, helped her get over her sadness. Every day in the jungle was the same, she would visit the large tree first. Then carefully watch the grass eaters, making sure to not scare them or let them see her. She liked how peaceful they were, they lived like they had no care in the world. She wanted to be like that one day. Although this day was different, she smelled a new smell in this jungle. It was a young female like her. She would follow the scent. It soon led her to the source. It was a large white lioness with white majestic wings. She looked closely; she had never seen a lioness with wings. She blinked a few times to see if what she was seeing was real. She began to get sweaty, and her heart was racing. "She was so beautiful." Kai thought and accidently said out loud. This caused the white lioness to get startled. The white lioness began to look around, searching for the source of the voice. Kai'Alani panicked and ran away. "Shit shit! shit!" She said to herself as she ran home. She dropped her herb bag as she ran away from the white lioness. She would try to forget the lioness, but she stayed on her mind.
