Once upon a time, Sunset Star was the most vicious of the lionesses in the Golden Wind's pride during Golden Fang's rule, the first king. She came to the pride as a stray cub from the giving tree with dreams of being the next queen. She grew up listening to the other lions praising her for her great beauty and skill, even receiving favoritism from Golden Fang himself. She was going to be the betrothed of the heir! She poured every ounce of focus she had into growing stronger and faster to provide for her pride, into being the best queen they could have ever wished for!
But one day, it all came crashing down. As a visit to the Falcon's Eye pond to confirm she was worthy of inheriting the pride's crown... revealed Sunset Star's blood to be colored like mud. She was a filthy inbred in the eyes of the pride, all her accomplishments, all her hard work meant little more to them than a guise to hide what she was. Golden Fang was fond of her and allowed her to stay, but forbid Sunset Star from ever having cubs of her own due to her mud colored blood. Sunset Star was beyond furious, she was promised the crown! Admired for her power and praised for her beauty! Why should the actions of lions of the past effect her future?
This is when the cheetah spirit with lightning in its paws came to her, whispering deadly advice on how to take back the crown and defy her fate... Sunset Star listened with a keen ear and obeyed every plan, every wicked scheme. She told the cubs she had been given to care for of the true ruler of the pride, and the betrayal of her pride mates. She raised them to live in mistrust of their family, to trust in her alone. Black Tooth, the third king of the pride, was one of these cubs. He kept her in his memory until he managed to get his paws on an item that was able to revive the dead.
This act has brought back Sunset Star, she dwells deep inside the crypts of Anubis's Temple. Her pride come to her now for guidance and wisdom, she watches all and is considered to be the Immortal Queen of the Pride. When push comes to shove, she is in charge above any king.
