Sekhmet never knew her mother. She was too young to remember her once she passed away. For the longest time she didn't know how it happened, and right now she admits she would've prefered if it stayed that way. She was raised by Isis, who took care of her mother before her.
She wouldn't call Isis a great caregiver, in fact she wouldn't even call her good. Her early years were filled with neglect because of the older lioness, but she doesn't seem to blame her or hold any resentment toward her. She was thrown into the role of the Maiden when she was barely an adult due to her mentor retiring. She doesn't complain about her tasks and does them maticulasly.
She used to consider Callisto to be one of her best friends, and simply couldn't stand the way she was being treated by their previous King. There were other lionesses that she knew were also mistreated by him, which infuriated her even further.
Back then, Sekhmet would never say it outloud, but she absolutely despised Morpheus and everything he was. He didn't seem to hold a soft spot for her either. She knew she was not the only one who didn't approve of him, and was keen on working together with her pride mates to put him down for good. Morpheus got suspicious at one point and so Sekhmet fled to The Haunted Prairie with a few cubs and adolescents from the pride. She did this to protect them from their ruthless king's rule. Fortunately, she found a pride living in the desert that took them all in. She only returned once Morpheus's power seemed to be slipping. At The Primordial Spring, she joined forces with the spirits and other lionesses from her pride and participated in a revolt that eventually ended in Morpheus's defeat when Sekhemt's mother, Bastet, took over her daughter's body to deliver the final blow. One of the lionesses, Athena's Wisdom, sacrificed her own life for Sekhmet, and she couldn't be more grateful for it. When she had her last cub, she named her in Athena's Wisdom's honor.
When there was a new King, she did her best to spend more time with her daughters and fix their relationship. When she passed away, she was given a chance to join The Council of Ancients, but she refused, saying there are others who deserve such an honor more than her.
PS: Sekhmet often had vivid dreams, where she saw a silhouette of a winged lioness, who seemed rather familiar. Sometimes she would hear a soft, familiar voice calling her name. She didn't know who was calling her, but now she knows it was her mother.
------------------------------------------
Your lion's fur begins to shine and shimmer, almost mirroring the sun itself, as they channel the blessing of Bast into their coat.
Sekhmet lies down in front of you with a concerned look on her face, wanting to know what you're thinking about.
As you approach, Sekhmet starts sniffing you furiously, trying to learn where have you been.
Happy to see you, Sekhmet bumps her forehead against yours and tries to sniff you secretly to find out what other lions you have met today.
Sekhmet runs to you, asking how your day was and what happened and who you fought with and what animals have you seen today and how are you feeling and how many beetles do you have and and and - she gasps for air, and continues with questions.
