Nadra means “rare” and was an alternate name for Nala in an older draft of The Lion King. (Not the same draft as Brond and Sheena, there are like five).
Nadra’s best friend is her twin sister Simara.
As an adult, she and her four sisters who are the same age form their own hunting party, The Feral Five, ready to take the world by storm! And look for cute guys nearby, of course. Nadra is a natural leader, and a gifted huntress, so naturally she is the Leader of the Hunt.
Nadra is seven when Mruki kills her father and claims the pride for himself. To her horror, she is the one Mruki chooses to serve him as his queen. Knowing that if she refuses the usurper will simply choose someone else, Nadra accepts. Maybe she can do some good as Queen. She claims her father’s headdress of hyena teeth and hoopoe feathers, vowing to uphold his laws and honor his memory.
Amazingly, it works! A little. Turns out Mruki is a little bit in love with her…cubhood crush gone wild or something. He puts a lot of effort into trying to make her happy. Her companion is a snake whose life Mruki spared and brought home as a gift for her. Apparently he’s a special kind of snake.
To her surprise, Nadra mourns Mruki when he dies. In a way. Their daughter Mkorofi does more than mourn him, and grows more and more like he father every day, to Nadra’s dispair. Mkorofi and her cousin/half-sister/best friend Abesi leave the Pride together as adults. Many of Mruki’s children strike out on their own as adults, some to forget about their father, some to mourn him.
Nadra bears her second litter with a sire she chooses for herself: Okeanus, a fiery-eyed maziwa king. The resulting two daughters are very, very treasured.
Nadra passes away peacefully at a ripe old age. The whole pride mourns her, and her daughters are bereft when they are informed.
First litter:
1. Mkorofi ~ female, chased
Second litter:
1. Nanda ~ female, kept (Regandi’s Pride)
2. Nuru ~ female, kept (Regandi’s Pride)
~You can't even relax for a minute without Nadra climbing all over you, nipping and pulling at your ears!
~You find Nadra just as she made a great hunting pounce. You praise her and she positively glows. Warm fuzzies all around! x3
~Nadra sits with another lioness, carefully cleaning dirt out of her fur. 2x
~Nadra approaches you, gives you a small nuzzle and asks about your day.
~You approach a group of lions sitting in a semicircle. In front of them you see Nadra telling a story with great enthusiasm. You sit down and listen for a while before moving on. (Rego is reminded greatly of Queen Sheena)
