Damu is Rhodonite’s last cub, an unexpected blessing born in the winter of her life. Damu means “blood”, named for her red coat, and for the blood spent to give her life (since Rhodonite was going on 14, labor was a challenge, mother and daughter were lucky to both come through it alright).
Damu has big paws to fill, her mother is the best huntress in the pride, she’s practically a legend. When her mother passes from old age, many pride members look to Damu to carry on her wisdom. Damu, who is as snarky as her mother, tells them to buzz off and let her be her own lion. She’s a superb huntress, loves to have battles of wit with her father, and is a raging lesbian 🤣
Her girlfriend is Tiye ❤️
In her first litter she has one cub, a little girl named Ruka. Ruka means ‘to skip’ or ‘to jump’, in honor of her golden coat, which seems to have skipped a generation. Both her parents have darker coats, but she takes after her grandfather.
(Her mother almost named her ‘Kutosha’, meaning “enough”. Because Damu had her out of ambition, but she discovered that her love for her daughter was enough, it was more than enough.)
Ruka leaves the pride as an adult, as many of the young lionesses do. Her mum gives her ears a good washing and her blessing. And off she goes, to find a pride of her own ❤️
Her second litter is with the Usurper, Mruki, and yields one cub: a daughter, Kahawia. With no use for girls, Mruki leaves her to her mothers to raise. Kahawia is a sasspot, and grows up to be a powerhouse hunter like her moms. She leaves the Pride as an adult, bursting with energy to prove herself in the wide world.
Damu has four litters in total, and five children (by birth, she also is Mom to Tiye’s children, their brood together is numerous). Only one stays in the pride, Rho, who was named after Rhodonite, Damu’s mother. She is the spitting image of Damu.
Damu and Tiye pass in the same day, within minutes of each other. They are buried together, to spend eternity in eachother’s embrace. ❤️

~Damu slunk up to you, commenting wryly that she totes saw you stumble all over yourself in that last play fight. What a fantastic show that was! She could watch it all day. 4x
~You greet Damu and ask her how she is. She informs you that she is FANTASMIC, and she is ABSOLUTELY fine with not getting a share of the last meal. Really. 4x
~Damu watches you amusedly, and states dryly that she did not know broken feathers were in fashion nowadays. You hastily remove the offending debris from your mane. 2x
