Sandy and Cloudy are the oldest daughters of
Anza and
Silky. Since the day they were born, they were loved by the whole pride. Everyone was more than ready to spoil the little princesses... Even though all the others cubs always wanted to play with them Cloudy and Sandy preferred their own company.
It changed when Anza brought
Winter to the pride...
Winter quickly befriended Cloudy. They became best friends and were playing together all the time which made Sandy jealous. This led to a small argument between Sandy and Winter. It wasn't anything big, just two cubs calling each other childish insults, but it started a rivarly between them.
They competed with each other on everything and argued all the time! Cloudy tolerated it until their contests started to be dangerous. At first they were ending up with scratches, maybe some broken claws, but one day Sandy and Winter decided to take this a step further... Their new challenge was about crossing a road full of cars.
As expected, it didn’t end well. Winter was okay, but Sandy got hit by a car.
When Cloudy found out about it she was furious. Winter tried to explain, apologize, but Cloudy just wouldn't listen. Their friendship was over for good.
Unlike Sandy, Cloudy wasn't competing with Winter after their argument. She just began ignoring her.
When Sandy finally woke up she got a looong lecture about her reckless ideas, at first from her parents and
Peach, and later from Cloudy...
When a group of prideless lionesses joined Anza's pride Cloudy realized that one of them,
Silver , had some trouble getting used to a larger group of lions.
Despite Silver's protests, Cloudy decided to help her.
They began training teamwork, at first just the two of them, later with some other members of the pride.
In the end, Silver's social skills improved, but she still preferred to spend her free time alone. The only thing that keeps her away from this sweet loneliness is Cloudy. Silver is pretending to be a little annoyed with the princess, but she actually enjoys her company.
Since Cloudy became and adult, she dreamed of having her own cubs someday. She helped other lionesses with their cubs a little, but it wasn't the same. When the right time came, she left the pride to look for a lion that could help her achieve this goal. Cloudy's sister, Sandy, decided to do the same thing. They went in two different directions, Winter came with Sandy, and Silver with Cloudy.
Cloudy was excited at first, but the moment she left The Lake Land she started to get anxious. She didn't like leaving her pride or meeting new lions. At least she had Silver by her side. She tried to make herself believe that everything will be alright, but since the start of her journey she just had a feeling that something will go wrong.
After a few days, they found a pride ruled by a strong and mighty king. He was... Well, he seemed to be interested in Cloudy. Unfortunately, Cloudy wasn't really interested in him. She couldn't tell if he's handsome or not... He was just like any other lion for her. She decided to ask Silver about her opinion...
Silver told her that he will be a perfect father for her cubs! He was strong and healthy, and that should be enough, right? Also, in Silver's opinion, he was pretty handsome, which could result in some really nice-looking cubs.
Cloudy decided to listen to Silver and agreed to mate with the king.
She stayed with him for a few days, and... They were the most uncomfortable days of her life. She didn't blame the king for it, he was a good lion, and he didn't do anything bad on purpose, but Cloudy just felt weird around him.
Luckily, she got pregnant quickly, and left as soon as she was sure of it.
When Cloudy and Silver came back to Anza's pride, Cloudy hid in the darkest end of the nursery, where she stayed for almost her whole pregnancy. She felt horrible. She tried to be happy about her cubs, she wanted to have them, but it just didn't feel right, and she had no idea why. Sandy, Silky, Silver and many other lionesses tried to visit Cloudy, but she always told them that she was too tired or wasn't in the mood to talk with them. Worried about it, they decided to send her to the Medicine Den. Peach examined Cloudy, but she was perfectly healthy.
When her cubs were born, she felt nothing. Two of them were born dead, but the other two survived. Cloudy wasn't sad or happy. When she looked at the two cubs that survived, a
daughter and a son, she knew that she didn't love them. They were just... Cubs. Like any other. She didn't feel any connection with them, they weren't anything special.
Despite her feelings, she tried to take care of her cubs. She groomed them, played with them, fed them... But she couldn't love them. And she knew that the cubs felt it too. They knew that they weren't loved.
Cloudy quickly realised that she can't live like this. She asked the caretakers to take care of her cubs instead of her... And to don't tell them that she's their mother when they'll grow up!
She felt guilty about it at first, but
Mirage and
Eclipse convinced her that it's normal. Maybe she just wasn't ready, maybe it just wasn't her thing. It wasn't anything to feel guilty about. She did the right thing by giving her cubs to the caretakers.
The last contact Cloudy had with her children was when her son died. She didn't feel anything when she looked at his dead body. Well, cubs are dying all the time, he wasn't special for it.
After that, Cloudy started to recover. She began hunting and spending time with her friends again. The only thing that changed is that she was avoiding the nursery. She wasn't visiting it like she used to.
Her dreams of being a mother disappeared over time. The caretakers were right, it just wasn't her thing. She wasn't meant to be a mother, and that's okey.
Cloudy sometimes still feels guilty about it, but she never started caring for her daughter, Pebble. She wasn't watching her grow, even from the distance. She just treated Pebble like any other lioness. She didn't feel any connection to Pebble's cubs either, even though they were supposed to be her grandcubs.
Whenever Cloudy starts to feel guilty again, she talks about it with Silver. Her friend is always ready to remind her that she made the right decision. It was better for both her and Pebble.
