She always admired her mother - she was a kind, clever lioness who cared for her cubs like no other. Bat'Wing heard that it's because her own mother abandoned her when she was a cub. Bat'Wing always dreamed of being able to talk to birds just like her mom, but despite many visits in the jungle and many attempts to communicate with them, Bat'Wing never succeeded. She was one of Quartz's closest friends. Quartz, as a future shaman, was training to be able to communicate with the spirits, just like her mentor, Zecora. She was forbidden from summoning spirits alone, as it was very dangerous. She was responsible enough to accept it and never try anything without her mentor's supervision, buuut Bat'Wing wasn't. She was fascinated by the possibility of talking to ghosts, so she convinced Quartz to summon one. At first Quartz was hesistant, but she finally agreed when Bat'Wing promised that she'll take the full responsibility if Zecora will find out. Unfortunately, the ritual did not go as planned. Quartz was inexperienced, maybe she had done something wrong, or maybe she was just unlucky... Either way, she summoned an evil spirit. She quickly ended the ritual and trapped the spirit back where it came from, but it was too late. The spirit already managed to curse Bat'Wing. The lionesses rushed back to Zecora and told her what happened. The shaman took care of Bat'Wing, but she couldn't get rid of the curse completely. In the end, the curse did not affect Bat'Wing's personality or health, but it did cause horns to grow on her head. At first Bat'Wing was terrified of them, but as time passed she actually got used to her new devilish appearance. Once Bat'Wing's condition stabilized, of course, she and Quartz were severely punished by Zecora for disobeying her warning. After all that, Bat'Wing lived her life like a normal lioness. She became a huntress and joined The Morning Stars.
