Despite being Zajara's daughter, she is quite different from her. Almost the opposite of her mother in fact. Growing up in the Peaceful Springs she always was the odd one out, something she got relentlessly teased about by her peers. She always had trouble with speech. Learning how to talk was something she learned far later than other cubs her age, and even today she can't help but stutter now and then. The hurtful words said to her by the ones she called friends made her a recluse.


Esmarie isn't very trusting of other lions. The only time she puts trust in anyone other than her mother is during hunting, where trust is needed to succeed. Still, she trusts her comrades's skills rather than the lions harboring them specifically. The only place where she feels at home is with her mother and at the many flowery meadows growing on the Grassy Plains. The smell of fresh flowers is calming for her.
