Thea met Tarkus when she was still a member of her former pride. It was obvious she was being starved, her ribs clearly poking through her pelt, and she was covered in cuts and bruises. The King was horrified by her condition when he first met her, and did his best to aid her however he could, but she was reluctant to even talk to him. After much coaxing Tarkus learned that she was so mistreated in her current pride that she wasn't even permitted a name, and urged her to leave, offering her a space in his pride along with a hearty meal and full protection. However, Thea refused, and explained that her daughter, her one and only cub, was taken from her as soon as she was weened, and was given to another lioness to take care of, as her kitten was deemed more "valuable" than Thea was, and therefore should be raised among the lions of higher status. Tarkus was saddened by this, but understood her refusal to leave her cub. However, before leaving, he told her that the offer to join his pride would always be available to her, and her cub if she was able to sneak away with her.
Only a short time later Thea stumbled into Tarkus' territory, heavily injured and close to death. Tarkus and his lionesses quickly jumped into action, treating her wounds as best as they could, but Thea was still left with several scars from the ordeal, several on her face and a large, nasty one on her neck. Her left eye was also permanently damaged from the mauling and left blinded. When she finally recovered enough to talk, she told the pride what had happened to her.
- - Ever since meeting Tarkus, she had been constantly thinking about his offer while she struggled to survive on the few morsels she could scavenge and dodging the claws of lionesses in her pride high higher status. It was two nights later when she heard her former King talking about selling her lovely cub to another pride, and the thought of losing her cub pushed her into action. That night, she snuck into the den where they were holding her daughter and woke her, careful not to wake the other sleeping lions. Together, the two slipped out of the cave and started racing towards the edge of the Kings territory. However, their desperate escape was spotted, and before she knew it, Thea and her young cub were surrounded. The lions surrounding them grabbed the young cub and took her away, leaving Thea yelling and struggling to break free of the surrounding lions to go after her cub. It was then that the King entered the ring of surrounding lions, a nasty snarl on his face as he marched up to Thea and told her he was done with a useless lioness taking up space in his pride. The King them struck, attacking Thea and she screamed, desperate to escape and to save her poor cub for whatever the King had in store for her, but she was weak from months of starvation, and it wasn't long before the King as mauled her within an inch of her life. Watching her lay in the mud, blood pooling around her head, the King decided to let her suffer one last time, leaving her to bleed out instead of finishing her off. Yet somehow, Thea was able to drag herself to where Tarkus found her before collapsing. - -
After reoperating as best as she could, she finally, officially, accepted Tarkus' offer to join his pride, and along with her joining him, Tarkus insisted that she be given a name, something she never had in her former pride. Thea didn't know where to start with names, and insisted she was fine without one, but Tarkus' wouldn't let this stand, and eventually suggested the name Thea, after an old legend of a war goddess, a legendary lioness who never stopped fighting and only allowed her defeats to make her stronger. Thea was unsure she deserved such a name, but eventually accepted. As she acclimated to her new pride and slowly came out of her shell, and it became clear how strong and kind of a lioness she was. She thrived as a hunter, quickly becoming a valuable member of the pride, and was very doting and caring with the other lionesses cubs, even though sadness would still sparkle in her eyes. She is truly caring towards cubs, and would make a wonderful mother. Hopefully one day she will be ready to have cubs again, but for now she is content helping the other lionesses with theirs.
After living in Tarkus' pride for years, she finally became more confident and fierce, still mourning her lost cub but no longer consumed with pain and grief like she was hears ago. One day, while she was out hunting, she met a lion of another pride and was enamored by him. A few months later, her daughter Enyo was born, and to Thea's great relief, warmly welcomed into the pride. While Thea was anxious to let her new cub out of her site when she went hunting, she trusted the Queen Aurelia to care for her as if Enyo was one of her own, just as she does with every cub born.
