Saphyr

Saphyr was born to King Tarkus and a visiting lioness, being the second son the king has ever had. Soon after his birth, his mother left the pride again, by Queen Aurelia was happy to take him in and raise him as her own. Sadly, it wasn't long after his adoption that Queen Aurelia passed, but by that time Saphyr was an adolescent, and old enough to be on his own for the most part. It was then that Saphyr learned that he was chosen to take over the pride upon King Tarkus' retirement and he was at first terrified, both of the responsibility and of angering his older brother Kion, who many thought would take over as king as he was the first born and, up until then, only son of King Tarkus. However, Kion was relieved that Saphyr would be king, as it wasn't a role he ever wanted to fufill, instead preferring to spend his time patrolling and providing for the lionesses. Since then, Saphyr has spent as much time as possible learning from King Tarkus and Kion so that he will be ready to take over when the time comes.

Growing up, and still to this day, Saphyr is very close to his half sister Marigold, who is a few months older then him. The two spend most of their free time together, although Saphyr is slightly saddened that they have had less time ever since he began training to take over as king.
