Spring arrived at The Lake Land along with her sisters and other members of the pride she was once a part of. They were sent to Hawk's pride in exchange for some rare item. Spring and her sisters were welcomed into the pride in very turbulent times. A rebellion against King Hawk was beginning, and new arrivals were treated with suspicion.
Spring decided to stay away from conflicts in the pride. She had just arrived, she did not know these lions and did not know which of them was right.
So she and her sisters lived outside The Den. They preferred to wait out the problems in the pride and rightfully join it when everything calmed down. King Hawk would probably be against it usually, but he was too busy to care about them at the time.
During it all the pride's heir, Oleander, often visited Spring and her sisters. He wanted to make sure they were doing alright.
During these visits, Spring took a great liking to Oleander. She was sure that he would be a good king and waited for him to finally become one. She knew that life under his rule would certainly be pleasant.
After some time, the time of peace finally came. Hawk was overthrown, Oleander became the new king. He invited Spring and her sisters to finally join the pride. Unfortunately, Spring's sisters weren't so convinced... Throughout their lives outside of The Den, they have formed a little pride of their own, with Spring as their leader. They weren't sure if they wanted Oleander to suddenly rule over them. They liked him too, but not enough to mindlessly obey him. However, they also did not want to leave The Lake Land. They have already settled there.
To solve this, Oleander came up with the idea of making Spring a queen. She already had experience in command and the trust of the king, the pride would surely love her in time as well. Spring wasn't sure at first... She did not know the lions she was supposed to rule. She knew she would have the support of her sisters and Oleander, but shouldn't the pride know their queen?
In the end, however, Spring decided to agree. She wanted to provide her sisters with a safe home, this way she could do it easily.
And so Spring became the queen of The Lake Land and wife of King Oleander. Of course, some of the lionesses in the pride were not happy about this. Especially one of the previous king's daughters, Marble, was disfond of Spring. She believed that as the daughter of a king, with royal blood in her veins, she deserved to be a queen much more. However, she did not have any particular support. Most of the pride quickly accepted Spring and did not consider other options.
At first everything seemed to be fine. The pride accepted Spring and a new era of peace has begun. That was until Spring noticed something... Her old companions seemed to have some troubles with settling into the pride. They constantly argued with its old members... Spring's job as a queen was to keep the pride peaceful, so she tried to calm everyone down, but she ended up only joining the fight. The lions she was supposed to lead accused her of favoring her former companions and ignoring the troubles they were causing. Oleander stepped in and tried to stop the fighting, but then Spring's sisters accused him of taking the side of his old friends. It only kept getting worse and worse, until Oleander's sister,
Briar, decided to intervene. At first Spring's side was distrustful of her and expected her to act like Oleander, but to their surprise she took no side. She was willing to listen to everyone and understand every perspective. She ended up solving the conflict and bringing peace to The Lake Land once again.
Briar has been struggling with finding her place for quite a while now, so to honor her achievement Spring and Oleander created a new role just for her - Mediator. From now on her job was to solve conflicts in the pride and keep it peaceful.
