M'taka

M’taka is the final son of Takasa, named after herself, and her sire, Mruki. M’taka is Takasa’s only cub in her fourth litter, her fifth child overall.

M’taka is the only child of Takasa that does not take after his mother: his heart is not black and cold. He keeps to himself, but has no inherent dislike for other lions, and isn’t quick to anger like his mother and older sister Mrengo. His mother is quite peeved that he has no desire to be king— of the Kalahari Pride or any Pride— and is quite content to train as a guard.

M’Taka moves to the Kalahari Pride as an adult, and his mother is ecstatic! She’s sure any day she’ll get a message from M’Taka saying that he’s reclaimed his birthright and claimed the throne. She never does, because M’Taka has no intention of dethroning Kanū. He really does just want a peaceful life in a pride with no preconceptions of him, and has the training to defend them. He is very content.

M’taka’s closest relationship comes in the form of his best friend, Akerele. While initially assigned to train the younger guard, their mutual respect turned into an easygoing friendship. They spend almost all their time together, and frequently patrol as a team.

~You were having trouble sleeping, so you left the den, and ran into M’taka. He sits with you and tells you all about the shapes he can see in the stars. 3x

~You look for M’taka to greet him, and finally find him near the borders of your territory, growling rhythmically into the wind.

~You come out of your den to find weird markings drawn all over in the dirt. What is M'taka up to? Is this modern art? 4x

~M'taka seems to be collecting rocks. Hmmm... maybe you should bring him back a pretty one if you see any? 4x
