Welcome to the dense woods, raging waterfalls and bountiful flora and fauna that makes up Kirkland's pride. You may by wondering how you ended up in such a plentiful land. Kirkland will wonder the same, since he guards his borders quite carefully.

Kirkland, a Mandarin based King with a nasty attitude (save for when he's chewing on catnip) is descended from a Tiger father and a Lioness mother. He bears the mottled stripes and golden coat to prove it. How did he arrive in Africa you ask? Simple. A rich poacher stole him away from his home within a protected enclosure, where his rare birth had taken place. He was transported miles and miles, over countless oceans, until he was finally brought to the backyard of this poacher's mansion. It wasn't a home. It was a prison. Kirkland knew that from the very start.

So with the help of his brother Khou who had also been kidnapped, they escaped by digging a hole under a weak barbed wire fence, burrowing under and out, and running for their lives as tranquilizer darts whizzed through the air.

For days they traveled, unknowing of where to go, where to call home, what to do with themselves. It was Khou's idea to settle in a dry land, so that they'd be less likely to get cold. Plus there was always an abundance of carrion where it was dry, from animals that die of thirst. Kirkland wouldn't stand for that way of life. Maybe because he had been too pampered from the enclosure, or maybe because he was scared..

Either way, Khou's choice of home, and Kirkland's reluctance was just the beginning of their clashing claws. Soon it became unbearable. Words were shared that neither meant. They split ways, hearts heavy with regret and paws not knowing how to carry them to apologize first.
