𝓦𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝓐𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒔
The coast is a perilous place for most lions. The stench of sea salt clings to the air, the rocks are treacherously slippery, and the ever-hungry sea presses against the narrow shore, seeking flesh. It takes a clever lion to navigate these vicious steeps. Despite the odds, however, a rugged group of lions have managed to carve a life out of a land once deemed uninhabitable: a land they call the Acropolis.

𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆:

𝒜𝒸𝒽𝒶𝑒𝓊𝓈
𝒯𝘩𝘦 𝒫𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝒦𝘪𝘯𝘨
Achaeus was the first lion to rule the Acropolis. A gentle and benevolent leader, he united a group of outcasts and together, they mastered the art of surviving the sea. They earmarked key locations within the territory, such as the Citadel and the Sanctuary, painting cave walls and planting medicinal herbs to create a habitable zone for lions. Once their territory was established, Achaeus organised a group of lions he called Guardians, to help him oversee the territory and carry out his command. Achaeus was a humble lion, and well-loved by his subjects - even the gossip-mongerers of the rapidly-growing Metropolis.

𝐵𝒶𝓃𝓆𝓊𝑜
𝒪𝘶𝘳 𝐿𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝐻𝘶𝘯𝘵
When Achaeus chose a huntress to be his successor, the Acropolis was in uproar. Slighted male subjects and miffed lionesses who hadn't realised they could've been heirs banded together to wail their criticisms. However, Achaeus was unwavering. Banquo, as it turned out, was an excellent choice. She led her kingdom the way a hunting chief would organise her party, treating her royal court as equals in discussions and regularly travelling to the Metropolis to spend time with her subjects. Over time, her straightforward, no-nonsense leadership style earned the respect of her pridemates.

𝓗𝓪𝓲𝓴𝓾
The Radiant Queen
Equal parts whimsical and beautiful, Haiku is a soft echo of her mother's warlike majesty. Of all of Banquo's daughters, Haiku was the only one to inherit her mother's distinctive piebald markings. The kingdom interpeted this as a sign that she was destined to lead the pride. Ironically, Haiku is probably the least queenly of all Banquo's daughters; her beauty is undeniable, and she speaks with charm and poise, but her scatterbrained nature and eye for material goods makes her less than ideal in the strategy department. Thankfully, her sisters - Koharu, Immeril and Aleu - have formed an elite council to protect the young queen and guide her in her leadership.

Queen Haiku's reign ended with tragedy, when the Acropolis was struck by a storm of terrifying proportions. Frigid winds from the north whipped the ocean into a frenzy, stirring up waves of dizzying heights that swept through the Agora. Haiku was never a warrior queen, but the day the storm fell, she fought valiantly to ensure every lion in her kingdom was safe. She was grievously wounded while helping one of her consorts, Navaer, carry their newborn daughter to safety. Much of the pride took shelter in the Pantheon, whose mysterious residents were kind enough to shelter them. The Acropolis lions huddled together, praying for the sun to return; and here, in this sunless place, Queen Haiku gave her last breath.

𝓕𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆
The Storm Warden
Fleance began their life as a philosopher in Haiku's court. When the great storm that shattered the Acropolis subsided, leaving the kingdom in ruins, Fleance took charge took charge of the effort to rebuild the kingdom. They coordinated hunting parties and sent parties to reinforce the Sanctuary's structures. More importantly, they met with the Hierei and lions of the Pantheon, ensuring the pride had a safe place to stay until their territory was mended. They were voted into the role of monarch by near-unanimous agreement. They accepted the role with resignation, still deeply grieving the loss of Haiku.
