So, in case you don't know yet, this new update has completely disabled all CSS coding from forums. While this is a good idea in a small few cases, for the vast majority of us, it's an unnecessary punishment. Yes, I know that not everyone uses CSS. But there are those of us, like myself, who like to organize things. Especially sales threads, so that you don't have to scroll through ten miles of one post just to bump your topic or reply to someone. Now, yes. I know there are a VERY few users who abuse the ability to manipulate parts of a thread. Either by making the page horrendously 'colorful' and a literally pain in the eyes to look at, or by trolling with big splotches of words that cover everything. Though personally I haven't experienced the second, but I've heard about it once or twice. My problem is, the vast majority of Lioden is a fairly mature community who wouldn't do this to other users, or if they do it is unintentional, especially in the case of colors being difficult to work with. So to ban it for all of us is just one thing: unfair. I'm not saying that it isn't a problem. It is, and it's impossible for Lioden moderators to go through every single thread on site. So my solution is to let the community to monitor itself. My idea: Place a 'Flag this topic!' button somewhere on the thread, perhaps along with the reply, preview, and bump buttons at the bottom. That way, when users come across a thread that causes problems somehow, color or trolling text boxes, etc, they can flag the topic. After a few flags, perhaps 3-5, meaning that many different people have flagged the same topic, a message gets sent to a forum moderator so they can check it out. The forum mod would then have the final decision as to whether it was the CSS needed to be removed. I feel that, for most, simply being told "Hey, your thread is too bright, could you change it?" would fix the problem. Like I said before, Lioden is mostly a mature community. So treating us like we're toddlers is a rather big slap in the face, if you ask me. Not that you did. ANYWAY. This is my suggestion and plea. Thanks for your time.~ Suggestion by #12629: An option for users to turn off CSS for themselves. |

Actually, I do support the option to disable CSS (on den pages and forums). I dislike CSS on the forums personally, but I understand that some people like using it to make their forum threads more appealing or for whatever reason they have. ![]() |

Oh dear. When I reopen my Art thread it will be a disaster. I'll be making a new thread I guess and filling out the entire first page I guess to organize things as best I can :/ ![]() |

I would support this, but I absolutely HATE the pop up stuff that comes along. And even if you have a flag button, you still see it. Frankly, thats kept me off the boards; the CSS. Im glad its gone. Most sites worth WITHOUT CSS, so Im pretty sure Lioden can handle not having it xD. ![]() |

That's why it was also suggested to be able to turn off viewing CSS on a player by player basis. That way, you don't have to have the CSS if you don't want to see it, but you wouldn't be punishing the entire 7k+ community for the actions of one or two immature players. ![]() |

I don't see why it is a big deal? You can still play around with your profile, the next thing you know people will be wanting to change the entire site layout! I hope it stays disabled, they really aren't needed in the threads. Also, perhaps a no support button be added? XD ![]() Edited on 09/07/13 by DANI~! (#84) |

Agreed, Dani. That's the way I look at it. Your profile belongs to you, you can do whatever you want with it (given it abides by the TOS/rules of the site), but the forums belong to Lioden and are kept neat and tidy. Fancy CSS layouts are not necessary for selling things in the forum, and it's a bit dramatic to get riled up about losing something that wasn't necessary to even keep things a little neater in the first place. ![]() |

I agree that some of the editing done to the forums was distracting, there were some threads I avoided at all cost but a lot was taken away that did not edit the Lioden layout at all. I could care less about the colors, I did have my old slightly redone from burnt orange forum colors to different browns. What I dislike that was removed were the scroll boxes. I typically cover everything possible about my art and offer what a few different things so people being able to scroll was quite neater. The first post always shows up and for me it's my longest one. I thought it was much less annoying for that first post to take up only a little bit of space so people didn't have to scroll for days in order to replay to my thread. ![]() |
