Ok, so this idea isn't very realistic, but I like the idea of more fur variation. Not simply in color, but in type. Like there could be rex fur that's kind of curly, maybe a longer fur that's more woolly, and short fur like we've got now. Maybe they'd be wild-only traits to make NCL's interesting and fun again, since that's been suggested. Or maybe it would be hidden in the genetics, like the way Malteses throw out all sorts of different things. EDIT: Fur type ideas: Tsavo (hairless or near hairless; limited manes for males) Woolly Short (just typical lion) Rex (curly) ANOTHER EDIT: Another idea is to limit fur types to just different MANES rather than the whole lion. :D |

Support; genetics is a ton of fun to play with. Remember; there are no red or blue lions ether in the wild. So saying this isn't realistic isn't a very realistic answer. HAHA; Also, I'm a huge hairless cat fan <3333 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you for the comments! :D Just remember! Even if you don't like one of the options, no one is forcing you to have a lion with that trait. This is just opening the option for those who DO want it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Actually there are lions in the wild that are almost hairless ->Tsavo lions really do exist along with maned lionesses Besides that we have lions of colours that do not exist naturally so I dont see why having different fur types would be considered as strange XD 0 players like this post! Like? |

Do not diss the curls or hairless, this isn't the most realistic game so I support. Being a curly I'm in my mind obligated to support all curly animals! X3 0 players like this post! Like? |

Actually, Tsavo males often have no or very short manes, but they aren't actually hairless. They have a short pelt due to living in extreme heat for a lion, but they most definitely have fur. The ones shown that have bald patches are actually suffering from health problems and mange most of the time, due to the issues they have there with flies and similar pests. 0 players like this post! The first time I ever saw Tsavo lions I actually thought about mange mites as the main cause... mange is terrible ;.; 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah, Tsavo is a pretty icky place to live. It's huge, flat, arid desert with little cover and prey. One theory is the lions there developed without any mane because of the heat and the fact it could catch on what little cover they could find (thorny bushes and trees mainly). As I understand it, during the wet months, the flies and gnats there are horrendous, which is why in the wet seasons that the poor lions look so bald. It's not their natural coat, but them itching, scratching, and shedding due to nasty skin irritations. This is a recent man-eater from Tsavo. Male. You can see his short/not-there mane, but you can also see his fur is just very short, but no bald patches. He was a big, healthy male that apparently just developed a taste for human. He was called the Man-Eater of Mfuwe. http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/tetrapod-zoology/2012/05/10/man-eater-of-mfuwe/ 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah, the Tsavo lions have a penchant for short fur and human flesh. 0 players like this post! Like? |

He has quite a lovely coat really! I remember watching a movie a loooonnggg time ago about man eating lions, It must have been 20 years ago, cant remember too much about it excepts that they were different to 'normal' lions, perhaps they were based on Tsavo's, I think they were depicted as being white in the film though... just rambling ^^ 0 players like this post! Tsavo lions are scary. They are huge and have a larger dose of testerone than normal lions. They are cunning hunters, fearless, smart, and they easily turn to human prey. They are also one of the only lions that has single males in prides almost exclusively. In the average lion pride, there are two to even four males that work together. Tsavo males tend to have six to eight females and do not share. Tsavos are also one of the few lions that regularly hunt and kill water buffalo and other such big, nasty animals. They are pretty awesome. http://www.earthwatch.org/europe/downloads/Get_Involved/Lions_casestudy.pdf 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think the line would be neon green lions with rainbow manes laden with glitter farts. We have coat colors that don't exist in real lions, unnatural eye colors, crazy mane shapes and other unrealistic features so honestly fur types are not that far of a stretch. Besides the unrealistic features are what make this game... well an actual game. 8| I support. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I admire your dedication to realism, Hercules. :3 @Mid: yeah, my 'this is TOO unrealistic' line is drawn similarly to yours. I'll draw it at lime-green lions. Thank you for your support! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Personally, I'm not too crazy about the idea of hairless, rex, or 'shaggy' lions. For me, that's more a mane thing. I wouldn't mind a 'Tsavo' mane that was more a tuft/line along the back of the head or a somewhat curly mane. Now, I wouldn't stop the game because they introduced new fur. I wouldn't have to breed it or anything! I just personally would rather have a few more manes than rex lions. *laughs* 0 players like this post! Like? |

I support the idea fully but I also agree with Tau'ri, I would hate to also Breed for hair types haha. But new and better manes (have been disappointed with the new once) then ill be happy! 0 players like this post! Like? |
