-LOCKED - Small Update, Long Post? How did that happen...
Posted on 2014-10-31 11:22:20
Unfortunately it's a bit of a small update today - we're preparing for November's event which we hope will be released on Monday! It's going to be a good one ;) This is going to be a long thread - I am giving each section headers to break it up a bit, but hopefully you'll be able to read it all!

Thread Subscriptions and Notifications

You can now "subscribe" to any thread on the game (it will auto-subscribe you to any threads you create, unless you uncheck the optional checkbox). When a new reply is posted to the thread, you'll get a notification which will take you to an overview of your subscriptions. From there, you will be able to visit the threads you have new notifications for - and it'll take you to the most recent page of the thread.

You can unsubscribe from threads in two places - one from your overview (found in the Your Subscriptions link in Chatter), and two from the thread itself. You are not obliged to stay subscribed to any thread, and can stop the notifications by unsubscribing :) we hope that this option will keep everyone happy!

We've also done a bit of tidying in the forums. Threads have a bit more room to breathe instead of being cramped up, "Your Activity" has had a bit of a revamp, and the top links should now display consistently on every Chatter-related page.

The "No Lioden-Related Problems" Rule

We recently introduced a new rule for the "Sharpen Your Claws" section of the game, and we'd like to clarify our reasons for doing so, as well as elaborating on the rule itself.

There were a lot of threads that were aimed either at users of the site, helpers, moderators or admins. There were even some which were directed at the game itself. This is not the kind of atmosphere we wanted to create by introducing a "ranting" board. We wanted a place for members to let off some steam about their day, or rant about something that's happened in the news that day. We did not want a place where members could make it uncomfortable for fellow members to tread.

We attempted to control this behaviour by putting several rules in place about not targetting your frustrations at members (or staff) but it never seemed to work - we kept getting the same threads popping up about how "this member" was doing "this thing" on the forums. Whether or not the member was named, this was not acceptable. Rallying a group of members up against another member can be interpreted as bullying - something which we are very strict about preventing when we can.

After several months of this, we saw no other way of controlling this than to ban all Lioden-related posts altogether. As some threads were about the game, and various actions of moderators or admins, or how the game is managed, or even some features of the game, this has been a controversial move on our part.

You ARE welcome to post about general annoyances with your experiences here - such as a mistake you made, or something you forgot to do. Or even complaining about the RNG gods hating you. That's all fine.

This was, in no way, meant to censor you. We welcome constructive criticism about Lioden. We do not like unwarranted ranting about something we may, or may not, have done. We have bug boards and suggestion boards so that you can help us improve. If you have a complaint about a moderator or other member of staff, you are welcome to report them to an admin - all four of us are friendly, and we would rather have you approach us than feel you are being singled out, or picked on.

If you feel that you are being bullied, please notify a member of staff immediately, and do not respond to any messages or forum topics involved in the situation you are facing. We can deal with it.

Raffle Lioness!

Congratulations to Wayne (#46371) who won last week's special lioness! A new lady has wandered in and is waiting for you to impress her ;)

@Tzoran: RNG is Random Number Generation/Generator. Anything that is "random" on the game is controlled by RNG (for example, your exploration encounters, the cups game, etc).
