-LOCKED - Killing dem lions & 2 new BGs! | |
Posted on 2015-01-02 03:43:56
A few neat things! You can buy two new common backgrounds in Monkey Business, Grassy Den and Rock Formation! & Kill lionessDue to a huge popular demand, we decided to implement an option to Kill a lioness, under the Chase option. It will let you to murder her for a karma drop, instead of chasing off to the wild. She won't be added to dynasty, just permanently removed from pride. Remember that nursing cubs will die with her. Chased lionesses might be found as NCL's. Killed lioness is gone from the server. Killing is a very brutal move, that requires some struggle with the lioness. It will drain your energy by 5. *edit* Before you call killing lions selfish, please REMEMBER that 2-3 months ago, chasing lionesses "killed" them. Chasing into wild is a new feature, "killing" lions was working on Lioden for 2-3 years and nobody called it selfish. We just call it Kill now, to separate from Chase. Updates~ You have an option to preview private messages first before sending! ~ 14+ Lionesses that are too old to breed no longer will display Heat status. Raffle LionessGood lord, Tamboo (#39640)! You seem to have the biggest chest this raffle lioness preferred snuggle into! Next lioness is waiting in the Special Lioness area in Explore or in NEWS section under the news post list. Little Hints1. We'll be working on the event updates during upcoming days! Whenever we're ready to launch, we'll post news. To those asking, this is how you donate carcasses to the pit: 2. Next week's update...? better get ready for it! 0 players like this post! Like? |

....but you aren't killing anything. It's just deleting it, but calling it Delete a Lion doesn't make sense when getting. Rid of one is chase? I agree the descriptions shouldn't be posted on the board, but if it bothers someone, just don't use that feature? It's a helpful feature for a lot of people, but maybe the descriptions should be kept off the board. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Kuri: That's mostly my problem with it. There is no reason that there should be descriptions on the board (unless, perhaps, placed in 18+ with proper warnings beforehand). However, there could just be an option like "chase far away", that would essentially give the message that you chase the lioness far beyond your territory, never to be seen again. That doesn't have any connotations whatsoever and people who want to assume she died can assume they're evil and she died or those who want to assume she lived can assume she lived. Again, if there is going to be a positive karma function, it should have been released at the same time as the kill function to avoid upset. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Then I suggest a person who holds certain beliefs should simply not use the feature. It isn't necessary. And, the age difference between 16 and 18 is very small. I'm sure a 16 year old could handle something as gruesome as a little description. If not, again, don't use the feature. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I agree with Kuma. Lions kill each other all the time. Just because we have implemented a new choice to kill lions it's still just a choice no one is being forced into killing their lions, no one is being forced to read descriptions about their lion killing another. If it offends you then don't use the feature and avoid the people who do. It's not that dificult to ignore features that are given as choices, especially when the previous feature was used in the same way as this new one is. This new 'murder' feature as you have so affectionately called it is not goin to encourage people into killing real things. It's a game, games are easily changed as well as easily ignored. It was the same with the Celestial event and the murder stone. People went crazy for that and now they have a parmanent solution. I don't see what is so bad about it. 0 players like this post! Kuma: How can a person avoid it on the forum? Even if they're not comfortable using the feature themselves, and they're seeking someone else to do it for them, simply clicking "will kill lions!" as a title or something tells NOTHING about what kind of description may be inside. While you can avoid the feature this is unavoidable unless people label their topics. Edit: I never said it would encourage people to kill things? Just that some religions/groups/morals people might hold strictly forbid it or frown upon it highly. They may not be comfortable doing it in-game either. Presently, there is NO WAY to avoid this feature if you wish to perma-remove your lioness. And that's issue #2, that they should have released them both at the same time so people who WEREN'T comfortable didn't have to. Right now it's forcing you to use it unless you want other people to have your lions - which is the main reason for the suggestion in the first place. Also, "they do it all the time" is literally the worst reason for anything to be okay. People murder each other all the time too. People lie all the time. Just because something happens naturally/in nature doesn't mean that every single person on the planet will consider it okay. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/01/15 by Alrewolf (#51084) |

Arlewolf, you can always starve your lions if you don't want to chase or kill. Ignoring them is easy and it's also not killin them just deleting them... Slowly. But still I gets the job done. So yes there is a way to permanently remove your lioness from the game without actually killin them. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/01/15 by SadieWitch (#37350) |

No one is forcing you to kill lions off. I think that if someone wanted nothing to do with the killing feature, they should simply not do it, not click on any forum threads that they believe relate to it, and if they wanted to permanently rid of a lion, they could chase it. I think if you really wanted a lion gone, having someone claim it from the wild wouldn't be much of an issue. If any lioness isn't claimed after 7 days, it's removed from the server anyway. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I don't understand, Sadie. Couldn't that be an argument for why we don't need a kill feature? This is the exact same argument people made against a kill feature. Just starve your lions, chase them, etc, that's now being used for the kill feature? I just don't see why this couldn't have been held until the other feature was finished or there can't be a "just don't give graphic descriptions of killing in your posts" rule? Even if it's "okay" for 16 year olds to see it - does that mean everyone WANTS to? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Well considering that I like the kill feature as it's instant thing as apposed to starving it's not. I was saying that I you don't like the kill feature just that much then there is a way to avoid it by slowly starving your lions if you don't want to chase and have the possibility of someone else findin them as NCL. I was saying that there was a way around it, not that I'm against it. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/01/15 by SadieWitch (#37350) |

You are deleting data from a computer server. Nothing is being killed. No one is promoting the death of actual living creatures. I don't see people having a problem with their lionesses "killing" all the prey animals countless times a day when sending them on hunts. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Shetani has a very valid point regarding the prey animals and hunting. If killing lionesses is so wrong then what about prey animals and sending your lions on hunts shouldn't that also be against ones morals/religions? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I do understand there's a difference between the meaning of "chasing" and "killing" even though chasing used to do the same as killing now do. But come on, there's going to be a good way of permanently deleting lions eventually. If you don't like the idea of killing lions, just keep chasing until the alternative is released and avoid topics about killing lions. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Alrewolf, this "kill" option is no different than killing the cub in explore. I actually really don't give a crap what it's called because I'm just happy to have the option if I ever needed to use it. Dunno if you remember me from the original thread asking for this, but I actually keep my ladies until they die "naturally" from old age. I never think for myself, though, my motives are always geared towards the community as a whole in any argument I make. And even though I'll never kill anything off other than the cubs in my pride if I don't like them enough, I'd still prefer to have that option for those who actually benefit greatly from it. The only real reason why kill/murder will be used in excess is for those sadists who get a thrill out of the idea. Then, yes, you've got the equally 'cruel' people who'll use it as a taunt/guilt trip for selling their lions. But in case you weren't aware, people have been making those threats on a daily basis whether or not it was called kill. And by saying that's too gruesome for use is showing you believe the 16 year old+ players within this game should be babied and sheltered or you don't think they're mature enough to control themselves from overusing it in negative fashions. Which really isn't helping the community and just insulting them. And no, I'm not twisting your words. Because 16+ should receive benefit of the doubt that they're mature enough to handle the worlds "kill" and "murder" just as Discliamed by this game to begin with. Nobody needs sheltering from the word(s). And not for nothing, but people have been fully aware that chase originally meant to kill them off anyway and called it so by their own discretion. Pointing it out and bringing attention to the issues also provides people with the idea if they never thought of it before. Which you are aiding. If you stuck with "we could find a better word for it", I would have simply agreed with you. But not when it comes to sheltering an age group that should be able to handle it. Just as the toddlers can handle Lion King just fine. Xylax has clearly seen out original thread. He's fully aware of the suggestions made of what to name it. Clearly he thought our 16+ y/o community could handle "kill". If it needs to change, I vote "exile". 0 players like this post! Like? |
