I don't know what sort of program you need to use(on a laptop) or how to do it. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could give me some tips. Programs Tutorials Links Just any sort of general tip I would greatly appreciate everything! Thank you. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Gimp is a really good free art program, it just takes awhile to learn what everything does :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

Paint tool sai is a great one. I use it and there's so much thing to use! A lot of different lines, how to erase in the same shape of the line, how to change the color of the line, there's lots of things there. I love this program. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Paint-Tool-Sai is a very, very good and cheap program (something around 60$? I'm not sure). It can substitute famous Photoshop confidently and gives to a user so far more possibilities than Gimp. But to begin with, Gimp is the best, I think, especially it's free :) Also, your emmm... "painting comfort" hugely depends on a tablet which you are going to use (but I'm not the best person to give you any advice on this, I've got an old Pentagram which I whole-hearthedly DON'T reccomend you xd it's very shity thing). I tried once my friend's wacom bamboo pen and I fell in love with it ,__, It's quite cheap, too! If you're going to buy one, don't economize on it, really! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Gimp is supposed to be a great program. I personnaly hate it but lots of people love it. Paint Tool Sai is, I think, made for drawing, then it may be a pretty good choice for digital drawings. Never tried it neither. The best one is probably Photoshop, one of the most complete digital art programm which you can do almost everything. But it's really expensive, so, unless you're willing to do illegal, it may be quite hard for you.... I would suggest you not to buy anything until you're kinda good with digital and you're sure you like it. You can do pretty awesome things with your mouse too. So, unless you're already a good traditionnal artist (or unless you're rich) you should go with gimp and mouse for a start. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/02/15 by Seiden (#31503) |

If you're willing to spend $150, then you should consider getting an Intuos Pen & Touch tablet. :) It comes with Photoshop Elements 10 and Clip Studio Paint. I used PS for about a year before exploring CSP, and now I'm in love. Haven't touched PS in months. But honestly I think that's a pretty good deal. If not, then a laptop and GIMP (or Paint Tool Sai) are good for starting out. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/02/15 by Renarai (#48222) |

I kinda agree with You, Seiden. Your suggestion is very accurate, but drawing using a mouse is a completely different thing than drawing using a tablet, you know. Mouse isn't a proper device to do a digital art, it's not even meant to be that. I personally would be very discouraged after strugling with this devil thing, trying to draw a steady line XD 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/02/15 by Chee (#11670) |

@Renarai When I get a job I might very well go a buy them, but at this stage, i'm jobless and poor xD So at the moment, i'm just needing a free program to give it a go, see if I like it and stuff :) So for now, I think i'll give Gimp a go and see how it turns out ^^ 0 players like this post! I did my first drawings with a mouse and I think they were not that bad. They would not have been better with a tablet. Maybe a little bit? Not that much. Not better enough to worth a 150$ spend. Tablets doesn't help you if you don't know how to draw at all. Sure it's more comfortable to draw with a tablet, but a lot of people want to start drawing and then, after a few monthes, they find out they don't like it that much. (like me, actually) Then it would just be a waste to buy a tablet. Drawing with a mouse isn't that hard, mostly if you're doing lined-art (I feel line the pen is the best tool for lines, and it's easier to manipulate it with a mouse than with a tablet. I think.) Then, Hisoka sure can go with a tablet if s/he's a traditionnal artist already (then s/he's sure she likes to draw and is going to use the tablet for real) but not just to "try". Unless s/he has lots of money. Also, I agree with Renarai. If you want to buy a tablet, Wacom is probably the best brand, and you can get Photoshop Elements which may be good for drawing (not sure, never used it). Bamboo are pretty nice too, just don't buy anything else than Wacom =p 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/02/15 by Seiden (#31503) |

@Seiden Wow. That's really good for one of your firsts! That's one thing i'm a little worried about with buying something(as I could borrow money if I want to xD) - that I won't like it. As for traditional art - I used to draw a lot when I was about 7, but that was over 10 years ago now and I have only just recently gotten back into it properly. I like traditional art - even if i'm not very good xD - but i've been wanting to give digital art a go for a little while now. So I think giving a free program a go would be my best bet for now in case I don't like it ^^ 0 players like this post! Like? |
