So I thought of a cool story / idea and I really want to roleplay it out. I basically was thinking of a proper back story for my merman oc and well, this happened.

The merman's pond

Long ago mermaids and mermen roam the sea's in vast numbers. They were the creatures of legends as they were known to be one of the most lovely of all living things. However like all tales they too had a dark side. These lovely creatures in all their beauty were known to drag a sailor from their boats and drown them in a watery grave only to feast upon their corpse. While this was an uncommon occurrence the truth was this wasn't something their kind was naturally trained to do. In fact they mostly feed of fish, clams, or seaweed. But the few that did grow for a taste of human flesh fell and became sirens.

Due to the select few fallen mer's the humans grew afraid of the creatures. A war broke out and in the end the tales of mer's became nothing but an old legend. A simple story to tell children at night. While the sirens became scary story's to ward off children who wished to play by the sea alone.

Little known to the humans did these mer's still live, not allot, but some were still thriving. Their numbers had dwindled down to a few hundred of their kind and going to the surface had become forbidden in order to protect the last remaining of their breed.

One day however the kingdom by the sea had a run in with a most peculiar of advents. A fishing vessel was hauling in their nets only to pull in an unfortunate merman who had been caught inside. The crew was awe struck and even frightened of the creature they had pulled out of the oceans depths. They proceeded to fill one of the holding tanks normally used for fish with sea water and brought the beast home to present to their king. The king found the creature enchanting and decided to keep it as a prize. After all it would mean bragging rights to have a creature of such splendor. Ontop of that their beloved child was turning eighteen soon and it would make an excellent gift.

So he ordered the servants to build a marvelous deep pond in the gardens castle to keep the creature there inside the castle walls. Once it was finished the construction was over they filled it with sea water and other fish from the ocean before placing the merman inside the stagnant pool of ocean water, were it would live out the rest of it's day's as a trophy and gift. Little did they know that a mer couldn't survive for an extended long time out of the main body of ocean. His strength would slowly deplete as the months would wear on, but they didn't know this yet. for the rock pool had just been finished being made and the merman placed to rest inside his watery prison.

Akemi is extremely shy and docile , I can supply more on his personality if needed. Also yes he can turn human as well, like from pirate of the Caribbean stranger tides if he is left out of the water to long he can gain legs to survive.
