Credits to Dawnstar. [Lilac] (#51049) for helping me think of this

I know that I've had this problem recently, and I'm like 100% positive other people had too.

Basically, I was harassed, threatened, and called slurs. And while I did report it (Of course!) It took a day before it was even claimed, leaving me feeling really unsafe.

This user was also reported by a few people who chose to defend me, but I didn't feel like the situation had been dealt with. (Though it has since I originally posted this, so don't worry!)

So my idea is this:

There should be certain words in the modbox that would trigger Mods to come look at them. The words would be stuff like:

"Kill"
"Threaten"
"Harassment"
Etc.

Janxxy (#61852) suggested that there be a subgroup in the Modbox where you'd report these types of things, so that smaller issues like minor ToS breaking and stuff don't get pushed back.

Gnarlandis (#66351) suggested that, rather than have to report a whole thread, you should be able to report a single post.

"I'm not sure if someone said this already, but mods should also add derogative slurs to the list, such as homophobic slurs/racist slurs/ableist slurs. I know that Lioden strives for a safe community where everyone, regardless of identity, is equal, and I believe that adding oppressive/discriminative slurs to the blacklist would help. :D" - Halt (#79087)

EDIT; Thank you everyone for the 200 supports! I can't believe how fast the supports added up!

This suggestion has 423 supports and 24 NO supports.

Thank you for this! You raise some very good and important points!

With flooding the modboxes/not having enough mods: The mod box already gets flooded with these things, it just takes the mods longer to see them. The admins could also hire more mods (Which I can see as being difficult, but they hire mods now, and I know a bunch of people on this site I could view as being Mod-worthy)
--
With Lion names/Bios/RPs: In my opinion, whatever a person names their lion, as long as it isn't an attack on another player (Like naming a lion "Xy is a total jerk!") or having something along those lines in the bios, it's totally fine. So like, having a lion named "Bloody murderer" would be fine, because it's not an attack against anyone else, at least not directly. And for RPs, you really should be aware that you're part of an RP, and I don't really see how this could be misinterpreted as harassment or anything, so if you could try to explain it a little more, that would really help me a lot! (It's a fault on my part, not yours)
--
I do think that having automated messages seems like a good idea, in theory. In reality, from other sites I've been on that had automated messages to deal/deter harassment, the problem became that the community started to feel like the Staff wasn't really listening to their problems, only giving them the automated response, which, in most cases, wasn't very helpful. (And wouldn't have been in my situation)
--
I do agree with you that Simba's last comment was a little unfair (No shade to Simba though). And besides, the Mods won't ban someone for falsely reporting another person (At least not to my knowledge) And with the scenario you gave: Mods do require some sort of context behind reports (Screenshots, asking for explanations, getting all sides of the story, etc.)
--
I don't think that users should be tracked? (Also, not too sure how a user could be tracked?) I know that the mods have some sort of system to tell you if a user has been reported for something before (First offense is a verbal warning, second offense is a chat ban/suspension I think, and third offense is permanent suspension - this all depends on individual situations)

My suggestion is more like, if you had someone who was sending you messages saying "I'm going to F*ing kill you!", and you reported it with the title/content including the words "Kill, threaten, harass, etc." then it would be flagged as being a more important issue than minor ToS rule-breaking would be. (Minor ToS breaking is more like, selling art that isn't yours, small scams, etc.)

Of course, loopholes can be found, but context behind it could still prove it as harassment.
--

Thank you for your concern, but this isn't the first time I've had to deal with this sort of harassment, so I've gotten pretty good at not letting it get to me. I'm more thankful that it didn't happen to someone who is could've actually hurt.

Ah, yes. I don;t mean a permanant ban just for that, I mean like a warning, or if they REALLY waste their time, a short suspension. To me "ban" is just a general word, sorry for any confusion. Loopholes, unfortunately, are always found. (Take that game which I do not want to speak it's name, for examle. Almost everyone finds loopholes in chat.) I think that maybe as long as the word itself is in the title, like even if a 3 is put in between letters of a trigger word, it'll still be there at the top for mods to view.

Ahh, okay! I mean, wasting Mods' time is most def worth at least a verbal warning, but a permanent ban is a little much for wasting time! XD

Even now, people still have some loopholes just because they don't want to be caught or get in trouble.

Wait, they do? What are these loopholes? I've never heard of them.

I mean, rather than outright saying "I'm going to kill you" people use sarcasm and stuff. So, like, they could say "Don't fall off a cliff sweetie :)" and technically they wouldn't have said anything incriminating, but the tone behind it would be aggressive

Yas! Lets hope they implement this. And ah, okay. Any other loopholes that aren't as obvious?

None that come to mind. Maybe a link to something rude? I don't really have a harassing mindset, so I can't think of that many

Huh. Do they use replacement words?

I don't see how that could transfer over? And even using replacement words (Example: "Imma flip you, son.") could still be seen as a threat and be reported

I mean like for something like "I'll murder you" they could instead say "I'll m4r8d3r you" like put things in between the letters. Do they do that?

I guess they could, but it still seems threatening.

Basically, you could still report them for it.

Ah, true. Thanks for clarifying. I'll add another support with my side account. (And dig up some treasures from there)
