The queen looked at the gray and white cat that was next to her. She purred feebly as her kits mewled and mewled. Suddenly, the tom stirred. "Where are you going?" The she-cat murmured. "To tell the clan." "But I need you. You're the representative of Grayfang." "But the clan wants to know, I bet." "Please stay here. The kits need naming, and I can't name them alone." Icefoot huffed and slowly nodded, settling down next to the queen. She went first. "This one should be Lakekit. Her pelt looks like a swirling mass of water." "Then this one will be Softkit. Her fur is as soft as feathers." "So I get to name the last one, huh? He should be Graykit, for he has the same pelt like his father and in honor of his father." Icefoot nodded slowly. "The names are perfect. I might not be Grayfang himself, and I don't plan to replace him, but I will love these kits like they were my own. I helped name them after all." He purred with amusement. "Go off to tell the clan." She ordered him, and he nodded and slipped out of the nursery and announced, "She has three new kits. Two she-kits and a tom. Lakekit, Graykit, and Softkit.
