How do you tell the difference between each species of drachenhund?

Their looks. :) Desert Drachenhunds have their lower canines showing, and have claws. Mountain drachenhunds are the only known species (thus far) with wings and horns. Plains Drachenhund are just that, quite plain... XD They're the most doglike of any species. Forest Drachenhunds have massive amounts of fur upon their chest and bellies, and a short, stubby tail like a deer. Even their ears differ. Forest and Plains have longer ears, while Mountain and Desert have shorter.

Wow, you're lucky!! You found an entire herd of Drachenhund! They were even so kind as to allow you in their midst! Having been surrounded by so many of the beasts, you feel rather bubbly and light hearted. Who knew such creatures could be so kind? The intelligent beings gladly accepted your company before moving off. Grinning from ear to ear, you soon find that one has remained behind. Be it an orphan or what not, the pup has chosen to stay with you.

Ignis, upon the fact she had a choice of where to go, has gone to the foothills. She knows that she can find all sorts of Drachenhund there! And what luck! She still has remain uninjured thus far! Not to mention, she brought back an item! It is dropped into your lap. Oh...a shiny object.... You can use this on your next adventure. And, with that, her luck streak has continued. She's brought home a pup once again! This chubby little critter is wriggling with excitement. It belly flops of of Ignis' back, and begins to chase its own hindquarters before promptly stopping to itch its ear. That's when it falls over, startled, and sits straight up to figure out what happened. This one is going to be a goofball, you can tell...but...what's up with the odd blotches...?
