Drachenhund Breeding

Breeding Drachenhunds sounds easy, right? Wrong. It’s a lot more complex than one might think. Firstly, a Drachenhund female must be of the proper age. After a year of puphood, there’s a period of time where the female simply is growing into herself. She becomes a bit more moody when the heat comes along, and irritable. This is how you tell that she is in heat. The heat only lasts for a short while, so once she’s in heat, it’s best to get her bred! Not always will breeding be successful, however. She needs to be with her chosen companion for some time.

First off all, the female has to be an adult. It takes twelve days for her to reach adulthood, marking her to be a year old. After that, you must wait another five to twelve days to see when she comes into heat. It is recommended she be left alone for her first heat, but she can carry healthy pups her first time as well. So what do you do when your wonderful and beautiful female is in heat? You need to separate her from the others! Unless it’s a pup, she may have a tendency to nip and bite the other Hunds in your home! Fights are known to break among females that are in heat.

Secondly, you need to find yourself a stud. After all, she needs someone to breed with. From there, you let them be alone for two to three days, and wait to see if anything happens. You can tell if she’s pregnant only a small while after. Gestation period, dependent on your female, can be from three days to five days. She can also carry up to three pups without a potion. With a potion, dependent on your luck, she may carry up to four.

Thirdly, it is recommended you buy her nesting material, otherwise your house may look like a tornado struck it! She’ll be busy looking for nesting materials that are viable for her to give birth. THe closer she gets to her time to give birth, the harder she will look. And fear not, if she disappears for a day or two, it’s because she’s given birth. Just follow the whimpering cries of her pups! The pups do nurse from their mother for a period of four to six days, and from there, she will begin to teach them how to hunt for their own food. After a year of raising her pups, she will then dub them as adults, and they are able to leave her care. Once her pups have left the nest, you can expect her to go into heat about two to five days later, dependent again on your hund.

However, after so many years of raising pups, your Hund will no longer be able to breed. This is due to their age. The age of a Drachenhund is unknown, and legends have it that they are an immortal species. While age does not affect them, illnesses and injuries can still kill them off. So be wary of your poor Drachenhund’s heat cycles! When they become less and less frequent, she can no longer breed, and it is best to never breed her after her last cycle. Chances for miscarriages are then high, and she may even die carrying her pups, leaving you to raise and bottle feed whatever pups do survive birth.

If you’re not deterred by all this information, a list of available Studs and Females will be posted up. If you’re wanting items for their breeding, you can find it in the item shop which is linked below. If you’re wanting to find a Drachenhund, a link will be provided for that as well. Everyday is an adventure with your Drachenhund, so have fun with them!

Breeding Rules and Tips

It was discussed that we should bring in breeding success failures. To compensate for this, items will be created. However, there are new rules to breed.

~Public Breeding requires that you put your Drachenhund up for breeding. This does not include Private breeding, which means you breed your own Drachenhunds.
~There is a 25% chance of failure at becoming pregnant. Females that have failures will need a 1 day resting period before trying again.
~In order to help breeding success chances, there will be new items implemented in the shop. It's a work in progress currently.
~There are now 2 free breedings per person, per week. If you wish to breed more times per week, a small 25sb fee will incur.
~Placing a Drachenhund up for public breeding will place them on a 1 week cooldown. You cannot take them down until that week is up.
~Likewise, if you take a Drachenhund down from public breeding, you cannot put them up for 1 week.

It's the one that guarantees 2 pups in the litter, but you can have up to 4 pups. :)

There's no real guarantee for four pups. It just promises two pups, with a chance of obtaining four. ^^

Hope this helps. :)

@bc

Don't worry I'm terrible at remembering potion names too.
Also would you like to go half on the potion payment or should I get it?
@Wolven

It helps alot, thank you!

Based on the fact she should now be an adult (but I lost half my list x.x) she probably should be in heat by now. I just require that, if you want to breed, you put up your Drachenhund for studding. It helps communications and me to know that everyone agrees to the breeding.
