My siamese mix turns 12 this March. I keep telling him to stop aging too, Topaz, but he won't listen either :c Surprisingly though, my older cat is way more energetic and kittenish than my 3 year old Russian Blue. He has a weight problem. :p 0 players like this post! Like? |

All of my cats are just your average DSH and one DSL. My vet keeps claiming one of them is a Russian Blue mix though which means her offspring would be as well. I'm not sure I see it, but they do have a very slight silvery blue tinge under certain lighting. Except for the one son who is solid black. xD I'd love to have a Siamese someday though. I'm sorry your boy won't stop aging either Blue. Cats these days. So defiant. :') 0 players like this post! Like? |

I kinda know the feel. My boy is 9, and riddled with health problems. I recommend against getting a siamese to be honest, my boy is like 50% Siamese and that's where ALL his health problems come from. (The other half is tabby domestic shorthair basic cat) Back when the Siamese breed was developed, they weren't bred for health, but for looks. This ended up with soooo many health issues. For instance, mine throws up all the time, he's allergic to everything (even himself. My cat is allergic to cats.) I love him to death, and he's totally my baby, but still, I wouldn't recommend getting a siamese, or even a mix. Then there's Sam, our little mutt cat that's mostly Mau, who could probably survive the apocalypse. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I would probably only get a Siamese if I found one up for adoption to be honest. I don't see the need to spend hundreds of dollars on a purebred cat when I can get a perfectly fine pet for $100 or less at a local shelter or take in a stray. I'll definitely keep what you said in mind though and I planned on researching the breed further before ever getting one. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah my siamese has a lot of problems, and he's only about half purebred as well, the rest simply DSH. He throws up a lot and his vision has been dwindling for years now. But he's absolutely beautiful, has a very unique personality (not to mention he's extremely vocal... which is either cute or infuriating depending if its 3 in the afternoon or 3am) But if you're willing to deal with that, I would definitely get one :) I love him to death. I agree with you on that though. So many pedigree breeds suffer from a long list of health issues which aren't exactly worth spending up to a thousand dollars on a cat when you'll need to dish out even more money on vet bills. Rescuing/adopting strays is the way to go :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

I've been volunteering at a non-kill cat shelter for over two years now so naturally I'm pro-adoption. xD I know someone who just spent over $1,000 on a Savannah kitten and it's still making me twitch. They are already commenting that he's "crazy" and "so bad". Well no shit honey. He's a hybrid cat. What were you expecting? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Woah man, who gets a Savannah and DOESN'T expect it to be wilder than the typical domestic cat? That's like getting a Wolfdog and expecting it to act like a German Shepherd! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Im proadoption... Though my granny's friend raises savannah cats, and I think ocelots or something of that sort, and sells them.. They are SO beautiful man, granny wants one but the rest of us are like.. 'we have dogs .-. only one of which likes cats..' Though I'm going to find a wolfdog and fennec fox breeder around where I am and get one of them eventually... I REALLY want the fox though x3 Since their legal in my state and all :P 0 players like this post! Like? |

I meant to reply to this awhile ago and I guess I never did. >_> I don't know Dez. I feel like she's the sort of person who wants to own fancy, expensive animals for the sake of showing off. If I'm being honest I don't think any hybrid animal should be purposefully bred, but I know not many share my opinion. 0 players like this post! Like? Lewl. *pats Top* Ugh, I don't like those kinds of people. Like, if you're going to get a hybrid, be prepared for it to act wild. To be honest, I both agree and disagree with you. Like, some breeds are made to have a more wild instinct to serve a purpose, or be less domesticated for their work. (Like the reason Sled dogs were kept closer to their wolf ancestry than say, a poodle.) It gives them the desirable traits that were being bred for under a controlled circumstance. However, I dislike when they're bred just for show and tell. For someone to say "Lookie here, I have a Wolfdog! Aren't I so special?!" Yet they never give it a job to do, and let this high-energy driven creature just sit around bored all day. That's what bugs me the most about it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Indeed, but I'd argue there is a definite difference between a Siberian Husky and a wolfdog. The Husky might have higher wolf content than the average domestic canine, but it is still a dog. I just feel breeding hybrids does more harm to the animal than good nowadays. For the record I don't believe in keeping any sort of wild animal as a pet either with maybe the exception of domesticated foxes so that certainly colors my views as well. 0 players like this post!
