With two people having brought up the idea of inbreeding/lioness age causing mutations again, this got me to wondering: what happened to undesirable mutations? As I seem to remember it, mutations were originally proposed as one of the cub population control methods. Birth defects would cause cubs to die before their time, much as would happen in the wild. Of course, we have a taste of this with the lethal mutations, but especially with the often adorable art and ability to freeze cubs... they've become desirable more than anything. I'm talking more about mutations that wouldn't have any special art (or if they did, it would be a very minor change, maybe an overlay). Mutations like deafness, toothlessness and clawlessness don't necessarily have to be lethal, but they could shorten the lion's life and curtail hunting, heiring and broodmothering. More importantly, if tied to inbreeding or the age of the mother, they could constrain or limit breeding and add depth to the game. What suggestions do you have? |

I really like this idea. Some negative effects could be: lower stats Loss of reproductive ability (vlf, only able to have 1 cub litters) loss of patrolling/hunting ability decreased chance of passing markings/special bases 0 players like this post! Like? |
