We all know that the admins have decided to start polling on some user suggestions. Great, that's good as they can get a general idea of what users do and do not like in a place that more users see/have access to.

The recent poll features a suggestion that I have seen before and I personally have turned it down every time. For those who don't know or haven't seen the poll, the suggestion is to add a new item: the marking slot changer. The poll alone asks if this should be implemented, should there be restrictions and even goes to list a possible restriction.

I know that the poll alone doesn't mean the admins really will implement it or not, as ultimately it's up to them, but the poll gives at least a general idea, and idk about any of you, but I'm concerned about the poll's current results.

Sure, having a marking slot changer would be helpful for when you make mistakes, we are all human and yes they can happen. However..... there is a major downside that will outweigh any good that this item will bring, one that even the admins admitted. (I should make it clear that I'm not bashing or hating on, just point out the facts).

The biggest con, the one that should have been an automatic rejection for every thread for this suggestion had: Any sort of marking slot changer alone will maybe not completely ruin the marking market....but it definitely will make markings and slot rarity practically worthless and will make breeding know-how obsolete.

This game is not meant to be easy, the breeding is supposed to be difficult. This item is practically a handout, even if it is worth gb. There is a reason certain markings only appear in certain slots, and have rare slots. That's what aids in the markings staying rare or not as common.

If such an item is made...you might as well make it so we can pick the marking from an event marking applicator, or add all breed only markings to all applicators, because now a marking slot changer can move a mottled rosette to another slot besides slot 6, the ONLY current slot for that marking (that I'm currently aware of). A marking slot changer...well now you have a chance at a double mottled lion, something that only a special lioness from the raffles should allow you to do imo.

Getting to the point, this suggestion is mainly for admins to NOT implement such an item. Honestly, and I know I admitted accidents happen, but it falls on us to pay attention and make sure we add the right marking to the right slot.

I honestly do not want a slot changer item at all....but if you must add it.....please only make it for oasis custom markings and worth more than the marking remover and marking applicator combined, as those are basically a roundabout way of changing slots.

Please either voice your support for the admins to not add a marking slot changer...or if you want a slot changer, please voice why as I personally would love to know other than to make the game easier as like I said, this game was not meant to be easy.... If you would rather voice your lack of support to me in pm, please feel free. I won't respond to them, I will just submit them anonymously here for others to see the arguments. No one will know it's you.

Other suggestions:

"Hm. Maybe if it was implemented, they could have a restriction so that a special marking can only be moved to a slot it's already released in." - Katze

"Maybe make a slot changer an Event thing, kind of like the November marking applicator? Only 1 lion a year or really expensive w/ event currency?" - Detective

Thanks again you guys!

And please....keep it civil...we don't want this getting shut down.

This suggestion has 353 supports and 94 NO supports.

@Venna, agreed.

People should work for their special things. If you really wanted your dream lioness, you'd work for it. Things like this shouldn't be just handed over. In this game nothing is impossible. Sure it may take a while, but doesn't mean you should just give up and not try.

Something that takes work to achieve becomes more valuable to the person achieving that goal. It's much more significant and satisfying to achieve that goal after overcoming or adapting to obstacles and stipulations against it.

I think a fair compromise would be a once per lifetime option, available for GB, for Oasis markings only. Breed-only slots should be rare and sought-after as I believe they were originally intended to be.

Admins, please do not encourage the mindset that success and progress can be bought instead of worked for. Levelling up can be bought, stats can be bought to an extent, but markings, along with mutations, are assets we have to work for.

I really do not want this implemented at all. Because then what's the point of working towards something of you are going to get things handed to you on a silver platter. I was kinda aggravated when I saw the Polly.

If where to be implemented then make it only an oasis item and make it cost 30 to 100 golden Beetles for the fact that it should be hard to get it.

But I never want this item. If it was rejected in the past then why bring back then. No just no.

I don't know that it ever was rejected, I just said it should have been for the very reason that admins even explained.

No worries lol. Honestly I don't want this ever and I honestly thought this was a stupid and lazy suggestion from the beginning but to each their own? Idk but even if they make it just for oasis custom markings, it's practically redundant as you have the remover and applicator which together only costs 4 gb

I found many NCLs that looked really lovely - if it wasn't for some beige marking covering up the white one underneath. But I did not want to get rid of the beige either cause it fir in other parts. Having a method of swapping their places sounds ideal.

I do not know what this is about 'rare markings' or how they work. And quite frankly its not all that interesting to me if a marking is rare or not? I care if a lioness is beautiful or not. If one missfortune marking in the wrong place messes up the design a lion is worthless - since the order cannot be changed now and buying such a lion would probably cost too much.

I mean I saw lions go for over 1000 SB with really low stasts and (what I thought) was a really ugly lion. I know that tastes are different. But I guess it tells its own story if that 'ugly' was marketed only for this one marking.

So the only thing changing is that the price of such special markings is lowered right? Down to the price of the item - which since it most likely will be a GB item most likely will still be 'too pricy' for a lioness only living 15 years.

@Seph - if the Beige marking was custom, you could have just removed and re-applied it, to put it simply.

"Rare markings" are markings that are extremely uncommon in certain slots / are hard to pass and therefore harder to breed, which lets them retain their value, etc. One individual opinion cannot really dictate the entire implementation of an item. Rare markings are a huge part of the game's economy.

If you have a marking in the wrong place and it is breed-only, you simply have to find a lioness that has the mark in the proper place, remove it, or deal with it. Simple as that. You're free to suggest to the admins for them to release markings in certain slots via raffle lionesses, but otherwise, it's tough luck.

And yes - markings can dictate a lion's price, regardless of it's overall looks. If a golden cub has mottled rosette, it'll still fetch a price of 10 GB + depending on the market's establishment of the marking itself. It fluctuates on its own.

Yes, basically, the item would COMPLETELY devalue 'rare slotted' marks. Completely. The entire market would vanish for it because marks would be able to be moved where-ever they want. That's an entire market, gone, because players wanted an item that made it easy to breed anything and everything they wanted without a challenge. Just seems incredibly lazy of people to me.

15 years is still 180 days, and lots of people find that to be a long time. GB is extremely easy to get for most people, so they choose to spend it as they wish. :p

Wait, wait... Hold the phone! Would this be for Oasis marks only? If it's for special marks... Oh dear... Good bye to the market and good bye to even Special Lionesses having a use. A newly released mark from special lioness in let's say... Slot 2 called Maroon Plume (completely giving an example here) could very easily be switched around on her cubs/even on herself. The whole thing with breed only/special marks is they're just that - breed only/special.

x.x

@Camo. The admins have not yet made mention on anything besides what is there on the poll, which leaves us make them aware why people voted they way they did. That gives more information than just a number.

Understood but regardless, this would definitely crash the market even more if they listened to the poll and accepted that the majority, based on the poll, is leaning towards any and all marks at any time. This just spells trouble.

I was a supporter of the marking slot changer until reading this. Didn't really think about all this before voting. ;n;

Huge support. Besides, it's hecka fun looking in the databases to see who owns what that's rare, like the Slot 6 Celestial Speckles or the Slot 6 FDB 7s. It's just fun to strategically base designs around what exists and what doesn't. Besides, we practically already have this option to change around Event Markings in November, we can make marks that used to be somewhat rare and only in slots 1-3 show up multiple times and in different slots for lions that we choose to add them to. With applicators you can forcibly put a mark in a rare or nonexistent slot if you want to, just think before you do it if you want to make a ton of rare lions.
